We got Rocky a year and a half ago, this tiny starving little flyer and the person told us she was a he. I never bothered to look.

and then we get Ranger a few months ago

and YOU KNOW Ranger is a He and not a she, you really dont even have to look and you see His well..ya you see.

a few nights ago (ya took me THAT LONG) while playing with Rocky I looked and SMH

HE IS A SHE and NOT a he.
A girl and NOT a boy.

Well imagine Rockettes surprise when momma said "where's my big girl." He/She wants nothing to do with it. I think She will just be politically correct and be gender neutral.

However

onto the serious stuff

Rocky and Ranger are NO longer in the same cage (altho side by side) and now I am worried that they were having fun when the lights went out. Is pregnancy a concern here? I am assuming I will always have to keep them apart?

Sheesh this He/she thing explains why the two of them got along so good when I introduced them!

LOL! I would mock you but since my deer mouse Nate has been a boy, a girl, and a boy again in his 5 years, I guess I need to just shut my yap.

Um...yes, they will breed much more enthusiastically than the grays will. Gestation is 40 days. The females become FIERCE when they have babies - she will cut you wide, deep and repeatedly! Hopefully they were good!

Awesome pic, BTW!

:jump:jump I missed this Starla. :rotfl

They can be tricky little dudes. I was told Tucker was a boy. A year and a half later I was beginning to doubt that. I already had a boy (Bonzai) so I knew what a 'man flyer' looked like :eek Tucker had none of that. :peace Suddenly, BAM... he was a boy, NO doubt in my mind. :grin2

Well... congratulations, I guess. :peace

I rescued a kitten once from a feral colony and brought her inside for socialization. My old male, Sinbad, LOATHED her. He was soo mean to that poor little girl it really broke my heart! Lo and behold, at 4-5 months or so, "Tribble's" fuzzy little grapes popped out overnight :eek. Tribble was a boy, and Sinbad saw him as the up-and-coming challenger for my affections :hidechair. Sinbad was obviously far more astute than his human mother......:shakehead

So you mean Rockette still might be Rocky???? SMH We DID look at Rocky and well it does look like just female parts. Nothing like Ranger has.

Well for now they are separated, I really do NOT want baby flyers. LOL People have said well you can sell them..the problem is...vetting the potential owners, not sure if anyone would get passed me LOL my list of expectations would be too high LOL.

How old was Tukcer when he umm grew some? *laughs* sorry LOL

Rocky is 18 months old Ranger is 14/16 months old.

Tucker was 18 months old when 'they' appeared. Like IR's kitty... it was overnight but it wasn't subtle... it was BAM. WOW! :eek They have an impressive ability to make them disappear also. Bonzai only weighs 56g and I swear that's a third of his body weight. :rotfl

I got Tucker from Anne and she's only been raising flyers like 30 years so I couldn't imagine she was wrong on that.
NO, she wasn't wrong. He's all boy. :grin2

I made that mistake with male rabbits... It's along tragic story and I won't bore you with it or make you cry...

And fortunately the vet filled us in :grin3 before they killed each other. We were planning on separating them anyway but it just moved a little faster.

All buns that cross my threshold are probably transgendered LOL

I can't pick on anyone either!! I rescued 2 abandoned rabbits - was told they were both female. Well. A month and a half or so later there are babies :eek Since we were unprepared for the pregnancy and she certainly didn't look pregnant, the mother didn't have the right supplies needed for a nest and the babies didn't make it. During the few hours after she had them and before they were seprated the other 'female' impregnated her AGAIN and we had a second batch :eek

When I was a kid we overwintered a gray squirrel pinky we named Timothy. By spring we realized we had to change her name to "Timmi"....
