I am trying to be a good mama for our 5 month old squirrel. We modified his diet with HUB and have added lots of begins and almost no nuts. Now I want to know what wood is safe foe him to chew on. He likes oak, wild tree branches and my cabinets. We put pepper juice on the cabinets and that deterred him a lot and we gave him many alternatives. He also likes maple branches. What wood should we avoid. I am afraid of cedar and won't let my husband put any in his new cage we are building. But what is safe to put in for him to chew on.
Thanks, I have gained so much info from your site.

While pepper is effective, it's also very harmful to them if it gets in their eyes. You can use something for dogs like Bitter Yuk or Thum for children.

Oak and Pecan as long as they aren't nasty looking are good. I don't have any other trees around here, so let me see if I can find the thread. You can bake these branches to kill any bugs or bacteria before introducing them to your friend. Be sure to always have fresh wood for him to wear his teeth down!

EDIT: In this PDF there is a list of trees that are safe! http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=224690&d=1390871511
