My babies paws are going bald! Please advise!

I've recently noticed that my two adult squirrel's paws and wrists are going bald. One has bare fingers and toes with just the slightest amount of 'peach fuzz' and the other has a bare spot right at the wrist of one 'arm'. No other sign of hair loss and no broken skin, no sores, no crusting or redness. The skin showing looks pretty healthy in fact. It actually looks like they've been rubbing their fur off themselves. Could that be the case? Over-grooming themselves? My boyfriend thinks it's just a part of them molting. Thanks!

They do molt and that may be what is happening...but are they still on formula? If it is left on the skin it can burn the fur right off and irritate the skin (think diaper rash). Front paws and forearms are a classic place for this since the older ones like to hold the end of the syringe themselves and usually make a huge mess.

Oh, I forgot to mention; they are way past the formula stage. They turned two years old this past summer. So, I'm wondering if it's actually molt and it looks different on the paws/toes than on their bodies because the fur is thinner there? Yes, I remember how messy they were as babies. I always had warm wash cloth handy for after feedings. ^_^

So, it appears to be a molt. Their finger-fur is growing back in! I'd just noticed at moment when they were at the bald-stage. Lol. Thank you so much!
