I had this little guy for about three week. Does this look like his gums are rotten ? Should I start him on Abs? If so what kind. His history is kind of sad. Him and his sister were found four months ago. Their diet consisted of almonds, peanuts , Mc Donald's French fries and junk food no formula at all. The finder came to me because Hanzels teeth were growing up into his nose. She would not let me have them at that time so I paid for her to take them to the vet to trim his teeth. I also gave her formula and HHBs letting her know she would have to buy all this the next time and pay for the teeth to be trimmed. If she didn't change the diet they were going to die. 10 days later she asked me to take them because she couldn't afford them . So now I have had them for three weeks their diet has been changed and they love HHB and still drink formula. All the veggies they want

There looks to be some issue. Does his breath stink?

Have you tried picking it away...like you would if you had particles of food stuck to your gums?
I've found that when the top teeth are too long foods tends to get stuck exactly where you're showing in the pics.

Try picking it away. There is a certain squirrel I know well that has this happen when her top teeth get too long. It does stink, but if you get it away the smell goes with it.

You might even be able to use a damp q-tip to clean it off.

If that was necrotic tissue it should stink IMO. Get out the toothbrush and start brushing...:grin3

I file ONLY when needed. If the clip is clean I don't file.
And yes, gum line cleaning is a must.
Glad you were able to clean it. It looked like what I see every other Monday.....

He sneeze and puffs a lot is this common with the teeth?

When they are too long, yes. His diet was also awful, so his teeth are probably very soft and they likely hurt...which will also cause them to sneeze and puffft often.

Yes their diet was horrible. I hope I can fix his teeth so he can go with his sister to the trees in the spring. I am sure there will be more teeth questions as they will stay the winter with me .

My Ruthie has tooth issues and she is always snuffling and sneezing. It gets worse right before trimming.

Just stay on top of them and encourage him to chew on healthy things. Hopefully you got to him soon enough and he'll need just a few clips to have them straightened out. Good Luck!!

I am trimming every two weeks,it seems like one of the bottom teeth grows twice as fast as the other. And his teeth clink together when he eats.

Every 2 weeks - as in every 2 mondays so it's once a month most of the time? Clip Monday, skip 2, clip Monday, skip 2
Or every 2 weeks as in every other Monday? Clip one Monday, skip one, clip next, skip one

Also, if one grows faster and needs to be clipped, you don't have to clip all of them, you may clip the long one and wait till the following week to do the rest.
Having one that is longer than the rest will throw off his bite.

Yes every two week. At least for the bottom teeth one grows longer than the other. So I only had to clip one bottom tooth last week and clipped all today.
