Good Day everyone,

I may not be posting in the right place, I felt this may be an emergency and someone may help in this matter.

Where I like there is a huge space about a couple of miles down the road full of old oak tees, and as you may imagine it is full of Squirrels. Now, I feed them every week by dropping a good amount of nuts and blocks next to their nesting areas.

Today, as I went to feed them, I was surprised to see that there are trucks working on taking the tree's down!!!! they are turning it into a parking space!!! and I am guessing they will just be killed when that happens.

I have called every wildlife place in Oklahoma, and no one will help with relocating. Please help with this, it is so sad to see this happen if there is something to do about it.

I guess what I am asking for is some volunteers to help me relocate these animals to a different location, and there is a few places that come to mind in town.

HELP PLEASE! and I am sorry if I put this post in the wrong place, I just hope we can find some good people around here to come and give a helping hand.

Chances are likely the adults will move on. There should not be any babies, normal, this time a year in OK.

Still sad though.. Habitat destroyed.

Best bet would be go back tonight or tomorrow and see if you see any in need of help. I wish I had seen this earlier I would have told you to ask them to give you any babies so you could get them to a rehabber.

Yes, the adults will disperse, and maybe some will go together. What's tough is that they have their nuts buried there. Do you live in a cold climate?

Sooo sad :shakehead last winter they logged (clear cut) :boohoo 80 acres just an 1/8 of a mile from me ....it makes me sick :sadness I do think it would cause more harm than good to try and catch to relocate...you may have siblings who will hang together through the winter and if you catch one and not the rest :dono is there any area close by they could move to on their own? They are very resourceful.....unfortunately, any that are injured during the cutting are helpless :sadness maybe you could walk around in the evening after they close up shop :dono

I would try to lure them away from the area where the cutting is likely to start with lots of nuts, if you can figure that out by the location of the trucks or other clues. If you can, put the nuts on the other side of the area.

Quick update:

After nearly a week of talking to the university since this is their land, and after making all kinds of calls to the city, I just found out that they wont be cutting anymore trees, so there are a few trees left for them, Thankfully.
