I read a post here on TSB from several years ago regarding deworming. It seemed to say that there isn't a need to deworm unless there was an issue. Is this still the consensus of the experts here??:thinking

Correct, there is no reason to deworm a squirrel unless there is an issue or it is suspect. I do believe Flyers are different though, maybe. :thinking
Flyers carry a specific kind of worm and I believe it is beneficial to deworm them. At least that's what I've heard. I raised flyers this year and I did NOT deworm them. I wasn't seeing anything indicating they needed it and I don't like to use chemicals unless it's necessary; however, I do always keep several different kinds of wormers on hand at all times...just in case.
Yes, flyers carry a specific hookworm. I deworm mine only when necessary.

Thank you so much for the confirmation! I didn't want to add meds if not needed.

After last year, I treat everyone for Coccidia. I will be deworming my bunch this year too, just to be sure :)

How can you tell if they have coccidia and what do you use if you suspect they do have it?
