My poor Toasty is about three months old. We raised her since she was days old. She was living in the backyard the past few days. We found her with a neck wound and she can't move her lower half. I'm devostated. we are thinking something attached her and bit her neck causing lower paralysis. We read that vets and wildlife places could possibly take her and just kill her and I'm terrified. We want to try to help her ourselves. Any advice is helpful. Please. We love her and just want to help her. We are willing to care for her forever if possible.

Dark, warm and quiet. Make sure she is well hydrated.
Can you please post pictures?
How long ago did you find her like this?

Can we see a picture of the wound?
Is there any way you can get your hands on some antibiotics? Human antibiotics - the best one would be Cipro. It is commonly used for urinary tract infections - if you know someone who has any, you would only need one pill. I am concerned that she may have been gotten by a cat, and they have pasturella bacteria in their saliva that will be deadly.
The other thing you want to see if you can find is another human drug - prednisone. Not sure if it will be used but you can try to find some.
Does she have any feeling in her back end? If you pinch one of her back toes, will she try to pull it away?
Have you seen any signs of her either peeing or pooping?

Do you have a vet you take other animals to? Like a dog or a cat? You could also call around to vets in the phone book, and ask them is the will see an exotic or if they treat rodents. Then see if they will look at a squirrel for you. Dont give out your name untill you trust them....and never leave the squirrel at the office alone.
