For those of you with non releasables, what type of crate/carrier would you recommend for overnight/weekend travel?

I'm looking for something that will fit in the back of the car and is roomy enough and sturdy to be a 'temporary' home for the rare occasions we visit family for a weekend. Because my Rainbow is mentally challenged, I can't be confident she remembers to eat and drink without help so she would accompany us. I want her to have a safe enclosure for travel instead of being cooped up in a plastic kennel or trying to rely on keeping her safe free roaming unfamiliar houses but obviously can't take the usual giant cage I have lol

Ideas?

Does she climb, or would you prefer something single level.
I will start with this link.
I traveled with a little red and bought this cage (R-685 The Rat Retreat) for that purpose.
It worked out fantastic!

Those look great! Thanks

She climbs but only in familiar areas so single level with hammocks is probably best so she's not confused. Since she just started going to eat/drink without me reminding her, I can't leave her long. Especially because the only food and water dishes she uses are in the window sill. She still doesn't recognize or remember about dishes in her cage. .. I'm not sure why?

But I want her comfortable traveling of course ♡ this is all a whole new area of squirrels for me lol

Oh also, maybe I could find covers for those? She likes to not be exposed but have soft sided cozy walls. Otherwise she gets confused thinking she should be able to walk through

I would imagine that would be a fairly easy fix.
You could get the cage dimensions and have something
sewn with ties on all the corners, and a little bit of padding.
You could place the covers inside the cage, right?

Do you have a thread about this little one? How old is she?
Sounds like she definitely found the perfect place to make her
forever home. :hug

Yes she's from the post above :-)

I really wanted one of the giant soft sided dog kennels but as if a squirrel couldn't chew out lol! So that's a great idea for tied fabric walls! She's about 4 months
