Hi my little girl is chewing on the plastic rim.on the trays that are in her critter nation cage. I am scared she may be getting some in her. I have oak branches and cuttle bones in there for her to chew on and she chews those but is still chewing on the plastic rim of the trays. What do I do to stop her? Is there anything that is safe to use that will deter her from doing this? It's not good to be eating plastic I know and it worries me. She is 10 wks. Old

She needs to move into a cage with no plastic. She will eventually chew her way out of cage......they are escape artists. Switch feeding bowls to ceramic or stainlees steel and water bottles to glass. Nothing plastic whatsoever.

All my babies have chewed up the plastic trays that came with the Ferret Nation cage. They don't eat it, just chew it and spit it out…lol They can't chew their way out of the cage either since it's all metal. Take out the trays and replace with cardboard and put a blanket over it. I actually wrapped mine in fleece blankets until they learned how to get into it. I now have aluminum trays that a finder made for me. :w00t

TD posted about Bass Equipment (I think in his Squirtle's Yard thread?) that sell metal pans for the FN/CN cages. You can get galvanized or stainless steel, I bought 2 sets of the stainless steel (they are not cheap but they are great). I place a "dog crate" mat into the metal pans for comfort and cleaning ease. If you call they do have the smaller shelf pans as well, but they are not listed on the website.
