Just found this on my basement floor, next to another dead one. My best guess is mouse, since I have had them in my basement in the past. Something down there smells dead, and has for a few days. Thought it was these babies, but when I went to scrape them up, this one was moving! Covered in filth, and cold, but somehow, still alive. Now warmed up and squirming all over.

Looks like it is not going to make it anyway, as it is now doing open mouthed gasping. I was amazed it was even alive in the first place. I did check some mouse baby pics, and it is obviously a mouse.
WOW...it's a wonder that Roxy turned out to be a squirrel...she looked just like that...:thinking

So glad you came along when you did, sure hope the poor little thing can make it, I hate to see anything suffer, well wildlife that is. I know a few humans I wouldn't mind seeing suffer, oopps that is another topic altogether :osnap
Looks like a rat or mouse baby to me! Not a squirrel for sure

I would go with a baby rat perhaps? It looks like a baby mouse but for not having hair yet it is a bit big. At that age they are very hard to raise. It is very difficult to get them to eat without inhaling it. Best of luck to you two. Hope he makes it.
I'd like to see pictures to compare a pinkie mouse to a pinkie squirrel. Roxy looked identical to the picture.

Here's a picture of 3 pinky fox squirrels to compare the mouse to:
