Hi I have a grey squirrel that is about 9wks. She weighs 140 grams. She has been eating 9cc with the syringes and miracle nipple. She acts like she could take more? I don't want to give her too much. I only give her Henry's healthy blocks to eat but she mainly shreds them and then just leaves the bits and doesn't eat them. She eats some but not slot of them. How long do I leave the bits in before giving another piece of block? I have been giving her 1 block sometimes a tad more a day. Also how long does it take for them to actually eat the whole block?

The "rule of thumb" is 5% - 7% of body weight; she is 140 grams so she could have between 7ml - 9.8ml. She can have more! I would not hesitate to give her a tad more than that since she is a little small for her age.
How often do you feed her? And what formula are you feeding her?

How long have you been giving her the Henry's block (a week? several weeks? a day? several days?)? It should not be long (maybe a week) before you start introducing other foods.
You little one seems a little small for her age. I am concerned she is not getting enough to eat. I am in your state and my 7 week old babies are larger than yours...
I just notice you have multiple threads spread through several forums that I suspect are all about the same squirrel. May I suggest that you stick to a single thread with all the questions related to the same squirrel(s). The answers to what I asked may be in the other threads, but I do not have the time to go through them all to get the "overall" picture, and I doubt many others will have the time either. :thumbsup

Thanks for the reply spanky. I feed my squirrel fox valley 20/50. I feed her every 4-5 hrs during awake hours. No night feedings. I have been feeding her Henry's healthy blocks for 2 wks now. I have only had her for 2 wks. She has also been on fox valley for 2 wks. How much under weight is she? She was only 66 grams when I found her and now she is 142 grams. She has about doubled in size already and has plenty of energy. She eats some of the blocks but not all. She drops some bits that she never goes back after. She is very smart and has potty trained herself! She sleeps in a fleece pouch I got from Henry's healthy pets but she will not pee or poop in it! She has one corner she uses in her cage. She is so smart! I love her so much already! Oh and I have been going by the 7% rule.

If she was 7 weeks old and 66 grams then she was very tiny! :eek
But there has been quite a bit of that this year. Can you post a picture of her?
It sounds like she is catching up and you are doing a good job! I have a similar baby that was 44 grams and 6 weeks old. He is right around 100grams today and almost 8 weeks. His cages buddies are all around the same age (actually a little younger) and range in size from 140 grams to 190 grams (only two are siblings and they are at the 140ish weight).
As far as not eating all the block, there is often quite a mess when they are "done". They will shred the block "mining" for the bits of nuts that are in there, but usually eat quite a bit of everything along the way. I would start introducing veggies from the healthy food pyramid (I saw that was linked to you in another thread).
They do not like going potty in their nests and often limit their potty duties to a single area or corner of the cage.

Thanks Spanky. I am doing my very best for her. I just want her to do well. I let her out of her cage tonight and she loved it! She ate 10 cc tonight too! I am so proud of her! When I learn how to post pictures on here then I will put some on here.
So I can start giving her some of the veggies from the list even if she isn't eating all her block? What do I do if I give her veggies and she doesn't want the blocks? And what is a good first veggie to start with?
