I know most of the drill having been there before
Adult - female - Also has a puncture wound. Loads of blood. Cant believe flies had not gotten her yet. Will give capstar in the Am just incase i missed anything.
Very trusting and cooperative. Sub q - baytril - melox for pain cause we wont make to the vet before tomorrow for Dex of they give it.
So.. When captured she screamed like a baby squirrel . Is that normal ? Do adults do the stress call?
She has no deep pain that i can tell but will move her legs/ foot to small tickles. Good bad or Indifferent ?
I ask cause she let me examine, express bladder ( no pee), inject baytril, inject fluids, and handle her while flushing and scrubbing all the dried blood off her front armpit. Not at all likey last few adults. They attempted to bite and were frightened. I was pinching the stuffing out of her toes and nothing. But i am not sure if it was fear of me or trust or lack of feeling. Please tell me the tickles are a good thing.
She does attempt to run off .
I am almost afraid she is one of last years releases.

Yes, I have had adults that did that high shrill alarm, it sounds so pathetic especially coming from an adult. :(
I have 0 experience with paralysis and can't offer observations but as far as your thinking she's a past release could very well explain why she allows you to do what she does.
I've been surprised with Annie and all she has gone through I never got bit. I really don't think I'd have been as fortunate if she were a "regular" wild.

I think tickes are good!
Which limbs are not working? You say she trys to run off, isshe using her legs?
Last years release does make sense and explains her behavior.

Back legs. Are what's not working right.
Oh and she was plenty feisty after the hydration and pain meds. Had to get my ninja fast moves on. Chittered and growled LOL . So she made up for it LOL .
I had to run an early errand this morning fed the littles and boogied out - so I have not messed with her but she was sorta sitting up Britgh eyed when I checked her food and shallow bowl of water.
I'll be curious to see ...
Now.. How does one get blood out of leather gloves and a butterflies net?

This past season I've had 1 adult, 1 older juvie, and a young juvie all with the same problem to some extent, some really bad.....no use of anything and unable to swallow...just laying there breathing. I used Prednisone on all of them. The adult is ready for release, the older juvie is doing really well and needs a bigger bin, and the juvie is only 1/3 of the way through the Pred treatment, but is showing positive results.
Since you already started Metacam, if you want to go to Pred you need to stop the Metacam for 24 hours then go to the Pred.
It's been very rewarding to watch them progress and learn to be squirrels again. I wish you the very best with your special one. :Love_Icon
Sammy'sMom guided me step-by-step through using the Pred on the adult, Sadie. :bowdown

I have pred here at home but would need dosing for a 500 gram squirrel . She seemed cooperative for the weight but was in a butterfly net. I could probably give her at 7 pm but that's nearly exactly 48 hours.
My vet always makes me stabilize for 3 days which I think is wrong cause time is spine .

We have tail movement. That has to be a good sign right?
And dang she is mean now ! I really need Kevlar gloves. :shark:shark1

So sad. The truth is she was loved, fed and protected --to the end...
MUCHAS GRACIAS.............
