Between a couple members helping me, we have determined that my two most likely have giardia which has been going on for weeks :sadness A wonderful member is sending me metronidazole, but my mother found some for fish she brought over. It's this stuff

It says it's the active ingredient is metronidazole (70%) and the remaining 30% are excipients which are basically fillers. The website says one scoop is 100mg. My squirrels are about 220g.

Often the ingredients (fillers) used to bulk out medications are of lesser quality.
Giardia is a (microscopic) parasite that needs to be hit hard, under dosing could
possibly allow the parasite to build a resistance.
Not only would I be concerned just what the "fillers" are, I wouldn't know where
to begin on trying to suspend and dose this properly and personally I wouldn't
trust the inaccuracy of it.

I'm going to wait to get what was sent in the mail for that reason. One other question, do I need to do any special cleaning? Like with bleach? I've already removed their nesting box because it was pretty disgusting and I'll replace when their diarrhea resolves. Everything else is washable.

I would. We don't know the exact cause of this long term diarrhea. I would thoroughly clean the cage. If possible I would take it outside and scrub it and wash with bleach. Sometimes a sponge bath just isn't enough. :tilt

Anything that can't be disinfected I would throw out.
