I am trying to help a finder in CT prepare and release her squirrel. She has developed this hair loss and I want to be sure it isn't something I am missing. I have not met in person, but will on Thursday. I will be bringing Revolution with me and treating her as a precaution before release.
Any thoughts? :dono

WOW that is really strange, almost the same on both sides!
The tail is gorgeous as is the remaining fur.

Yeah - mites and stuff usually aren't symmetrical. Bizarre - but then again, Mister P's fur is the bane of my life...

The pattern was what made me think it was molt. Mr. Blinkie had a ridiculous look for quite a long time last year when he molted.

No visable skin irritation or crustiness that I can see in that pic. I think molt but Revolution is not a bad idea anyway.

Well, my friend still has a weird hair thing going on. I forgot the Revolution that last time and wonder if anyone thinks it could be something that needs to be treated or if it is something else. Here are today's pics:

She also isn't eating a darned thing and driving her mom crazy by not eating and losing weight. I just don't know what the hell to tell her when she wants me to explain it!

Still looks like a molt to me. It is in a different spot then before, so from the pics that fur grew back in, correct? Peanut has had the craziest molts I have ever seen...and ready for this...for the first time since he has been here, he has NOT molted. So go figure. He always has molted in the middle of winter, heck half his body was bald! She looks good weight to me. My babies that are older have slowed way down on the food here, they don't need it as much, as they are not 'growing' anymore. I may be wrong, but don't think it is anything 'wrong' per se. At least comparing it to Peanut, anyway. (And btw, he is the only one who has had those strange molts, too.)
