I just received a new foxer yesterday that is approximately 6-7 weeks old. He is VERY scared and timid, and it's been about 16 hours and I cannot get him to eat or drink. He'll let me put the nipple in his mouth but just lets the formula dribble out of his mouth, no drinking at all. He was found 2 days ago on a sidewalk and the finder tried but was not able to reunite with the momma.
I have had Petey, my foxer, since he was 2 weeks. He is very comfortable being held and doesn't show signs of fear. Although Petey is younger than the new baby ( I think) he weights about 90 grams more than the new baby.
My question is, is it advisable to introduce the two together for the benefit of the new baby? Perhaps he won't be as scared with a friend in the cage with him?
What do you guys think?

Under supervision you can try and introduce the two.
They may or may not get along, I suspect at this age they will.
Your more serious problem is getting this new one to take fluids,
16 hours is a long time and they dehydrate quickly.
Obviously you will need to hydrate him before formula.

Ok, I will try to introduce them under supervision.
I have been trying my darnedest to get him to take fluids. I've tried doing it in low light as well as covering his eyes with a little piece of cloth. Nothing is working. Any suggestions to get him to take it?

Just wanted to give a quick update. Petey and Pablo were introduced to each other 2 days ago and have been doing so good ever since. They have gotten along 100%, no signs of hostility or any issues. Pablo is still scared but he's started to come out of the covers to see me when I start talking to him. He now knows my voice = food. I think being in the cage with Petey, who is very happy and relaxed, has helped Pablo also relax a bit.
I've gotten Pablo to latch on during feedings, although he doesn't take more than 11-12 cc's per feeding.
Here is a photo of Petey and Pablo together... My boys!:serene263676
