I have a baby squirrel that I think has pneumonia. I have some Baytril but it is for cattle. She is a gray squirrel (I think from looking at pictures on line) she weighs 2 ounces (about 60 grams I think). Please let me know what other information is needed to give dosing on the medications. I had some amoxicillin on hand that a local rehabber said I could give "the smallest amount possible" which was like a grain of sand. Bus she wouldn't take her for me. I gave a bit of the amoxicillin at her 9:00 am feeding and her noon feeding. She seems to be getting worse. I saw on here where Baytril was recommended so I have found a friend who had some on hand and gave me some. Any help is much appreciated.

What is the concentration (e.g. xxxmg/xxxml) of the Baytril?

Do you have a kitchen scale to weigh her or is this just a guess? If a scale, check and see if you cannot change the units from ounces to grams. We need a pretty precise weight.
Otherwise post a picture of her next to something like a soda can.
Edit: The Amoxicillin is not as quickly effective for aspiration pneumonia as the Baytril is.

When you hold her to your ear and listen, do you hear a "clicking" sound when she breaths?
What symptoms does she have for pneumonia?

yes, she has a 'rice krispies" like sound when breathing. I used a mail scale to wiegh her. I will see it it will convert to grams. the Baytril is off brand but is 100mg/ml for cattle.

The postage scale does not convert to grams. But it measures to the 1/10 of an ounce.

And your baby is 2 oz precisely?

You're right this is approximately 60 grams.
Do you have Cipro or Bayril?
If so what mg do you have?
edit: OK I see that a friend gave you some, what mg is this?

Yes. according to the postage scale she is precisely 2 ounces. And the Baytril is 100mg/ml. The 130 was a typo.

How much Baytril do you have?
I want to break this down for you, but I will need to know
if you have 1 whole ml of 100 mg/ml OR let me know the amount that you have.

Thank you everyone for helping. She has had her medicine so hopefully it will work well :) Does anyone by chance know how long it should take to see improvement?

They usually react fairly fast to treatment, some squirrels jump back in a day, some take a few days.
Gradually you will notice clicking gets lighter and soon will subside and you should see increased activity and appetite.
Make sure you complete the full course of ab's even if baby appears to be "well."
