The wound Scooter rubbed last trip to Iowa got just about healed up and that boy rubbed it again--smaller fer sure but there's another place kind of behind the original wound. It's not bad looking but it's raised--doesn't feel swollen as much as it feels boney. It's not really pliable like an abscess but I'm scared to death this long lasting wound could work into something really bad--and we're a thousand miles from our vet. Should I start him on something just to make sure nothing is going on. I really don't like antibiotics "just cause" but an infection could be disasterous here. I brought my drug box so I have Clavamox and Clindamycin. Any thoughts? The pix is the best I could get tonight. This boy is laying across my neck now-- mama's little angel--but he's been a daemon all evening.

Oh no...this stinks...we've got to come up with something for his legs...rubberized leggings...:dono seriously, I worry about the chronic wound, too! If you need anything...maybe Dr. G would talk with you over the phone and I could mail what ever she wants to prescribe :dono you may just have to wear the little boy 24/7 :drama

Hey, did you see there is a little dwarf/downs baby in Wisconsin that needs a forever home :eek

Can you put a cone on him? Just until you get home.

I have a cone but he's not messing with it. He doesn't chew or lick--just scoots around. I guess i need to put more wrap on that leg. i tape the end of the vet wrap but the tape must have pulled loose, got stuck on something and come off. Scooter has his out time with Peanut. Those two race all over the cages in Iowa squirrel room. Scooter is usually with me but Peanut does like his company. I JUST got more fleece to wrap the cages with. Electricity went out and it was wet in the washer. It's dry now and my man is in his cage for the night. Tomorrow everything gets MORE fleece. The cage bars aren't good for his little paralyzed legs.

Pat, the best med for this IF you suspect infection would be Clavamox. Since it is on his hind leg I do not think you need to stack the Clindamycin. If there is indeed an infection and you start the Clavamox and you dont see improvement then yes of course add the Clindamycin.

I am heading out of town first thing tomorrow morning for an emergency so I will not be able to access TSB. I wish you the best of luck. As you know many of our trusted members are able to dose for you if you have questions. :grouphug:grouphug:grouphug:grouphug
