I received a call today from someone who had been given a baby Squirrel. This is a special needs baby who is a dwarf down baby. This person called me because I have one already that I found in May and hoped I would take this one also. This little girl is the sweetest little one. These special babies are non releasable and very needy. They are a huge commitmnet but so loving and tame. I went to see it and hydrated her and found a vets wife who would take her for now.Problem is I can not take her as much as I want her loved and provided for.My husband is going thru chemo for colon cancer and I have my hands full with caring for him and my own special needs baby squirrel.I just know someone found it.I know this is a shot in the dark but is there anyone willing to take thiis commitment on? I know we are not close to many rehabbers and getting it to someome is going to be a problem..Any thoughts?Feel free to private message me. Thanks for reading this !

Where is this squirrel? We have a member who might be interested or know someone who is.

We live in Maryland which is a little bit away...but, if you can't find anyone to take care of this sweet baby, we could make the trip out to you.

We have never cared for a squirrel with Downs. More research and a little guidance would be all we would need. I am home all day, everyday...so that would not be an issue. We have time and lots of love to give to this special little girl. If you can't find anyone closer that would like to care for this baby, please keep us in mind. :)

Thank you for offering!Maryland sounds like a great road trip but a very long one. You sound like you would be perfect. We will definetly keep this in mind if we could figure something out. The East coast sure seems to have some big hearted squirrel lovers.

I'm in Iowa right now. You know I would love another Kensi baby--even thoI'd have to do toe dances around Scooter so he wouldn't be jealous. These little ones are blessings. my Little Mercy would be a wonderful mama. Hmmmm-- how far is Wisconsin from Iowa?

I'm so sorry that I'm just now responding. I just needed to make sure this was the right decision. You know, it's pretty incredible how everything works together in the most perfect timing. Yesterday, while out running errands, I met a young woman and we got to chatting. When I told her that we rehab, she instantly lit up! She basically begged if she could come and help us. (You all know how rare that is...or the offer is there, but they rarely follow through). She is a stay at home Mom and has free hours while her son is in school during the day and wants to come over at least 3 times a week! She called me last night and asked if she could help and what day would be possible to come over!

This little girl has been on my heart ever since I read your thread. There has been more than a few signs letting me know that this is meant to be! (Does she have a name?) Harry & I would love to care for this little one if that is ok with you? Wisconsin is a while away, but after Shewhosweptforest mentioned the "Squirrel Train" even though she would not be in the vicinity...I could always start a thread to see if others could help with getting her closer to us. Harry would be able to drive all the way to Wisconsin, but it would really help a great deal if others could help in shortening the drive. What do you think?

I will PM you with my phone number. Please, feel free to call me anytime. If I don't answer right away, I'm probably feeding babies ;) but I will return your call right afterwards.

Chickenlegs, SammysMom & Shewhosweptforest, Bless You All's Hearts! You guys warmed my heart with your beautiful compliments! Each one of you are super special people and I'm grateful to have had the chance to meet you, face to face. :)

Add me to the people that give a 2 thumbs up to MyLittleMercy taking the little one. I got to know her when she saved the lives of some mice, and I guarantee she will ensure this squirrel has an endless supply of love and care.

I am sorry about your husband. My sincerest wishes for a full recovery.

Yes, Oh my goodness, I got so wrapped up with this little girl I forgot the main reason why you were looking for a home for this little girl!!!

I'm so sorry too! You guys will be in our familys prayers too!!!

Lovesmice, been a while since i got to talk to you!!! These past 2 baby seasons kicked our butts! lol (in a good way!!!)

By the way, all 3 deer mice are still with us. We all got super attached. Sully (the little boy) has his own pad and the 2 girls share a pad together. All 3 are super tame, super smart and super loving! Between the boys and I, we have taught them some neat tricks! Sully knows how to shoot a basketball in a hoop! (a mini basketball set from the dollar tree) Cracks me up each and every time. It's almost as if he wants to do these tricks, to please us or get the treats...lol...I'm sure it's both! I would have never known how super smart or the love of these tiny little creatures if it wasn't for you helping me along the way in caring for them! How are your Mice? Have you gotten any new ones?
