Hi, I now have two new additions to my drey. Lilo and Stitch was found by two young men fishing on a deck yesterday. Stitch seemed fine to me...starting out with hydrating them both on Pedilyte for three feedings. Went to Esbilac puppy dry formula. mixed 3 to 1 for three feedings and then now the feeding full strength. Stitch has been fighting me to eat since I got him. I noticed that the first picture i took of them yesterday his belly looked extended. This morning his tummy really looked extended. not hard, still soft. he did not pee at all today, his poo started out looking good but the last two feeding I noticed it was clear and watery. I am worried he will not make it thru the night. What can I do for him?
Lilo eats good, pees and poos ok.
first picture is this morning. second is at 11:30pm tonight.

That doesn't really look like bloat from the pic but you can see him I can't. With bloat the belly will be hard and tight. If you think he is bloated you can float him in a bowl of warm water up to his arm pits to allow the muscles to relax. That helps get things moving. You can also give him a drop of GasX baby gas drops (simethicone).
Sometimes they will pee by themselves. If by the morning he isn't peeing he will need antibiotics. His sister isn't sucking on his penis is she? That will block his urethra. Make sure it isn't scabbed over.
I gotta go now. I have to get up in less than 5 hours. :sleep

Have to relieve the bloat. I'd suggest getting some liquid infant
gas x (simethicone) and do the warm water soak.
Edit: HRT :thumbsup

not looking good this morning. I found that he even crawled away from Lilo this morning. Thank goodness he was warm still. I have been giving him water/sugar solution a couple of times and 3to1 esbilac powder formula. Hubby is getting the infant gasx now. Stitch has been getting warm baths massages and still nothing.
what causes bloat?

You know it has been 24 hours since his last pee, would it hurt him to give him antibiotics? How much? How often? I am hydrating with diluted formula (will be putting yogurt in this next feeding) and sugar water.

I think I would go to full strength formula before starting to make additions like yogurt.
Hydration should be done in between feedings with sugar water or even plain water.
I do not know which antibiotics H4S was considering. You have stimulated the baby and still no pee?

Stitch has been getting warm baths massages and still nothing. what causes bloat?
Have you been massaging with the warm water baths?
Massaging while bathing from under the arms down the side helps to get things moving.
Bloat can be caused from over feeding, baby not able to process/eliminate or a combination of all.
How often? I am hydrating with diluted formula (will be putting yogurt in this next feeding) and sugar water.
Why? I would not be putting yogurt in his formula, I would not be adding sugar water to his formula. If his stomach stays extended, the last thing he needs is having something else he can't process.
If you need to hydrate do so in between feeding.
Hydration fluid is water-sugar-salt. not just sugar water.
Proper hydration contains electrolytes which would be derived from the salt and is essential to bodily functions if dehydrated.
We recently had another member on here that had a baby who's stomach was staying extended due to over hydrating. When she went to full strength formula after relieving the extended stomach the baby's stomach stayed normal and it started processing normally.
