I found a baby in front of my house in the middle of the road. He has almost no use of his legs. I don't know if the back legs were broken. But he cannot even crawl. He has movement in his tail and 1 arm, possible a little of both front arms but his two back legs are curled together? Any advice. I really didn't think he would make it through the night but he did. He wants to eat. I've raised many babies, but nothing to this extent. Not sure if it's an emergency but didn't know where else to put this. I attached 2 pics and will try to attach a video.262700262701

I'm in class so I can't watch the video. If he doesn't have function of his back legs, I would start him on Metacam if you have some. :) If not, I can send you some but not sure how helpful that would be if you don't get it for a few days. :(

This looks like serious brain trauma to me with decorticate positioning and spinal cord damage limiting movement.
It is a true emergency. You need potent steroidal anti-inflammatories immediately.
Please don't move it, keep it warm. If you have the correct formula you can try to feed it dropwise, else make some homemade squirrel pedialyte and try that.
IMHO the prognosis is grim, based on what little I can see.

That video is heartbreaking. Hopefully someone will be on soon to help you.

I'll be praying for the little one, don't give up on him just yet. Maybe you can call around to some friends or family and see if anyone has some prednisone... don't administer anything until you hear from someone on the board. You will need to get a weight on the baby. Do you have a small kitchen scale that weighs in grams? If so, post his weight.

Bless you for saving this little one from the road!

Yikes! This little one is in rough shape! Hydration is first, but do you have prednisone by chance?

Yes I do have prednisone. I agree I don't expect him to make it. I attached a video of him this morning. It's amazing what this little one went through but gets so excited at feeding time. He is a good eater and reminds me of a little bobble head. He does use his one hand to hold the syringe during feeding and makes the happy squirrel squeeks as well. Just don't know what to do going forward other than make him comfortable for his time? I will try to upload a video later of him during feeding where he acts semi normal except he cannot sit up on his own. But attached a newer video of him. He also loves to lick the squirrel formula off his hands as well.

I'll admit it, he looks like he's in bad shape but don't give up. He's still here, which means he's a fighter.

Do you know how much he weighs? He could have an injury that's causing the swelling which in turn is causing everything else to go south. If the swelling is reduced, he could possibly get better and be more mobile. He just needs to be given a little help with some meds.

Someone here can tell you how much to give him but they need a weight on him.

He's absolutely adorable

Do you have a weight on him? You'll get to post the weight so someone can dose the prednisone if you want to give it a try (I cannot see that it could really hurt considering his condition?).
