I have a 125 gram squee whose poop smells like death. Or swamp mud. Or death by swamp mud.

I have had him a week or so and stool is solid. Was a kitten milk baby but seems to have recovered from that... Except this stench.

I would like to give him a round of wormer cause in all my 30 squirrels no one smelled like this.

I have panacur paste for horses.

I also have baycox in case it's needed but since we have no other symptom....

Food is fox valley formula. And rodent block ( kaytee) BUT HE HAS SMELLED LIKE THIS SINCE INTAKE.. which is why I assumed it was the kitten milk.

Steph - how long has his poop smelled? What color is it? The poop is solid but smells like a swamp?

The reason I'm asking...I've had a he!! of a time with poop this year. Like no other year ever. By trial and error and talking to some fellow rehabbers we discovered a solution. The poop smelled BAD, but not like giardia or coccidia. The difference...it was anything but solid.

Since intake... 8 days ago. I got him in an evening and the next am I could hardly breath in my rehab room.

I have him in care fresh instead of fleece. Cause The fleece stinks to high heaven.. ( why do we say this when something smells like hell warmed over ? ! ) Despite the kitten milk she remains solid. Black brown in color. 9 week old.aprox.

I will bet you that he still has the kitten milk in his system. Protein stinks to high heaven, which is why the poop of carnivores (cats, dogs, and most of us) stinks to high heaven but squirrel poop normally doesn't at all. Kitten milk is liquid protein, basically. ( If you buy "Critical Care" powdered food for Carnivores you will want to flush it down the toilet after opening the package. Yet, it works!)

I would offer him some hydration between feedings and give it another few days......just my opinion.
