A women just emailed me saying that her cat brought in a baby today. There are no visible puncture wounds but I believe that I read that cat's saliva is poisonous to squirrels...? Is this correct? Just in case, I have advised her to bathe the baby in warm water with 1-2 drops of dawn soap. Can I have her do anything else?
Advice please!

Yes, cats saliva is a big issue, but what the baby needs are antibiotics. The problem is if the saliva enters any openings in the skin - from the teeth - even a scratch...

Whew, I'm sure glad I found a vet that's going to take him. I've warned her that he was brought in by a cat and may need antibiotics.
Thanks CritterMom!

BEG her to put the baby on Baytril. She should not worry that he is too small, etc. It is the safest, fastest way around a pasturella infection that could kill him.
