This is Logan this morning, after eating. He has been doing this twitching since about the third day here. It only happens after he eats, (no matter what I have given him), and if I wake him, it stops. But seems pretty extreme. His whole body is jerking inside the fleece, almost to the point it can be hard to hold him. No other signs of the twitching or anything weird when he is awake. But given he took a bad fall to the ground, one always is concerned on head trauma (he had a very bloody nose when he cage in, that bled for over 24 hours after he got here.) Please take a minute to watch and give me your opinions. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp5xZ1ClogQ

I am feeling, from my limited experience in head trauma, that it's inflammation on or in the brain from the fall. Is he able to get metacam or steroids?
I agree it's a bit strong. For the normal twitches they seem to do.
I have a head trauma case that did this. But she was having all kinds of seizing etc on top of it. I gave metacam for 5 days and started seeing improvement after 48 hours .
I also separated her from sibs during that time cause she was getting trampled. And that's not restful.
She had a huge lump on left side of head and her right side of the body was affected.
She appears fine now.
I would try to treat the swelling.
Another thought is could this be problems swallowing from the trauma?

There is nor was there any swelling, but know that is not always the case in head trauma cases (visible swelling). But I would think I would see it from the getgo, not three days out, when he began to feel better. But I would think if it were from head trauma, rousing him would not stop it, but it does, if I wake him up. Just so unsure of anything with this boy!

Mine got in just a short time after their fall. But the one with nose bleeds and the one with swelling on the head became visible after 6 hours in care ... Lesson for me that it does not always show up fast.
My experience...
It could be "delayed " because swelling is going down now after 3 days. Think of if you have a belt too tight.. You remove it and suddenly it hurts. Or a tourniquet.
Or pins and needles.. I think my seizure baby had this as she started bitting her arm
Poor little things.
Rousing him stops it? Maybe it's just a bad dream.. Or he is trying to dream of suckling mom?
Or maybe waking causes him just enough distraction that he ignores whatever he is feeling?

It only happens when he is drifting into sleep. I have had others do it, but his is a bit more extreme, so that is why I was asking. So unsure after the other day...:shakehead

Very strange indeed, not sure if you "need" to be concerned right now.
I see that his little mouth is going at the same time.
My younger daughter used to get mild seizures. We always knew when an episode
was coming on, because she would do a sort of swallowing, lip smack type motion,
then sort of just gaze. Never had twitching though, and she would snap out of them after
a few minutes.
I sure hope that you get some answers, I have never seen this before, so I'm of no help. :(

Seizing while falling asleep is common in humans with sleep seizures. Most sleep seizures occur in Type I and II sleep which is light sleep. I think trying metacam or pred is probably worth a try just to see if you see improvement in the next 48 hours. I can't be sure if that is a seizure since you need an EEG to really say for sure what is going on. Any seizures while awake?

None when awake. Nothing abnormal at all. Just as he is going into sleep after eating. And can easily be roused and they immediately stop.

Might not be seizures, hard to say.
