Hi All,

I've had this flyer for a few months now and she's okay with me. She really likes it in the closet of my room, but I don't want her to go in there because she destroys my clothes.

I blocked the gap under the door with a towel and sat down near it to make sure she couldn't get through. She wasn't able to get in so she started crawling all over me trying to bite my hands! It's not that hard, the pain is more emotional than physical.

If I open the closet up she jumps in there and won't bite me anymore. But will this happen anytime I block off an area she wants to go?

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Thanks

Not a flyer person but the only suggestion I have is to try and duplicate the environment she is seeking with the closet.
It makes sense to me she would prefer that area since they are nocturnal by nature.
As far as the biting... it's really the only way an animal can demonstrate their displeasure. Baby ain't happy and she's letting you know about it, making baby happy is probably your only recourse.

I would try blocking off the closet before you let her out don't sit beside it. Dim the lights in the room. And find some way to stimulate her make her chase a feather or chase her under the covers. My squirrels like the closet to. I think it is because it's dark and there are a lot of hiding places. But try to stimulate her outside of the closet with dim lights and see if that makes a difference. My flyers seem just as happy to play on the bed under the covers.

Does she usually live in a cage? If so cover all you can and make it as cave like as possible-she is after the comfort and security of the dark. Sorry she is bitting, know it hurts the skin but especially the heart!
Buy one of those battery powered lights and install it in your closet, I know Walmart carries them, then constantly leave the light on-that should discourage her from wanting to be in there. She shouldn't smell you on the light so no reason for her to attack you-plus her access wouldn't be cut off!
