I posted this in the nursery forum, but figured it would be seen more here. Someone can delete one of the posts if I'm putting it in too many places.

Just had a small male brought to me. Looks to be maybe 2 weeks? 36 grams. He's currently seeping wrapped in fleece on a rice bag. Doesn't seem to be dehydrated, but I'm going to do the first couple of feedings with hydration solution anyway. I have Espilac powder stored in the freezer, but I can remember how to mix it. Can someone tell me how much water/powder? It's been a little over a year since I've had a baby this small. Seems healthy, no obvious injuries.
I just gave him 1cc of hydration formula. I plan on doing this every hour of so at first. No pee or poop yet, but he was very happy to take the fluids.

I would start him at 3 parts water to 1 part powder. Full strength is 2 water to 1 powder, but I would work up to that.

This IS the new Esbilac, right? With the probiotics?

Yeah, it's the new formula. I just put it in baggies to store in the freezer and lost my mixing directions.

So, my biggest problem with babies is that I tend to try and over feed. I just did the first feeding with the watered down Esbilac. He took it well. I just gave him 1cc and will feed again in an hour or so. How much and often should I be feeding him at this size? My brain always tells me I'm not giving enough, even when I know I am. LOL

Got a call about a sibling this morning. This one has been on the ground for about 24 hours. He does look dehydrated, but very willingly took some fluids and seems pretty active. He weighed in at 36 grams also. The first one is at 38 today.
