Well as you all know already, Noodles died last night. Now 2 of the 3 are starting to show symptoms. I admin. Baytril....I hope it is not too late. I SCRUBBED the cage down as well as new nesting, and branches. They seem ok right now, but 1 was hacking a couple hours ago, and the other wouldn't come out of house for nothing. Please pray very very hard. I can't stand the thought of losing another one or 3 for that matter. As for Boxer, this is his second release today. (got in bad fight last week)...anyway, everything went good for 2 hours, and wham, here he comes BLEEDING VERY BAD AND A BROKEN ANKLE. Gave him pain meds and Baytril...also has large hole in leg, but not to the bone, but very close. Taking him to vet at 10 in the morning. This has got to be the worst weekend ever. And it's not even over. I am going to need a break after all of this.

So sorry to hear about all your creature trouble. I will be praying for your little tykes. I hope they are ok. Sorry to hear about Noodles. I have had a similar weekend. The last bunny of a litter of 9 (I took 5, my aunt took one and another rehabber took 3) just died this afternoon. He was doing better and starting to eat his food and then today just like that he got diarrhea and died within 3 hours. I feel for you, the hardest time is when they are sick or dying and you have done all you can and all you can do is watch and pray that eveything turns out for the best.

So sorry -- hopefully your efforts have caught it in time for Pasta, Beans and Roni. Poor Boxer -- it's a tough world out there!

Hang in there! You are doing a great job:thumbsup , even if things look very down right at the moment! :grouphug :grouphug :grouphug

The 3 kids seem to be alert this evening. I hope that means they'll be okay. Jusy maybe I caught it early enough. God I hope so.
I had to go to Town tonight to pick up supplies and when I got home, I realized Boxer had chewed right through the cat carrier I had him in. I searched and searched, and finally found him in the middle of some folded laundry. He was happy to see me....but yet choose to ignore me when I was calling him? He had started bleeding again, but has since stopped. Anxious to get him to vet so he can be fixed. I will also be taking one of the 3 with me for tests. If one of them does die, and I hope they don't, we are going to have necropsy done to find out for sure. I hate the thought of that, but I am so scared the other squirrels in that room are going to get sick. I have 7 squirrels and 3 opossums and 1 rabbit and 5 rats in that room. I have never been so worried in my life.

Ok...Boxer had to stay at the vet, cause he has to be put under to fix his leg.....poor baby...I sure wish I could have stayed with him.
And as for the 3 kids....we are treating it as Bordatella. Symptoms are same....at midnight last night, I started them on Clavomax, which has to be admin. 2x a day. They are all okay this morning. So I made it past the 12 hour mark.....I am getting ready to go tear apart my rehab room, move and clean EVERYTHING. It is going to be a long day. Wish I had some help today for sure. My husband went to the lake for the night, and was upset I couldn't go....I feel bad about it, but there really is no choice here. I can't take a chance on the others getting sick. Once again, my critters come first. I am gonna have to make this up to him for sure....anyone else have this problem?:shakehead

webld4u2, is your bunny in the same room with the affected squirrels? You might want to treat the bun as well (not with Clav, though!) because they are asymptomatic carriers of bordatella.

Bactrim would be a good choice to treat the rabbit...you could also use it on the squirrels. Double check me, but I think it would be a once a day drug.

I have already dosed Clavomax again at lunch....that is 2x a day.....this is what is reccommended here..besides olive leaf? Anyway, I had given Noodles Baytril, and that obviously didn't work. The 3 are doing fine still....thank the lord. I will post shortly....I have a lot of work to do.:grouphug

Just found out that Boxer is going to a NR....they opened the cage and he jumped on their shoulder:shakehead
He was friendly when I got him, but I did everything I could to Wild him up, and handled him only as I needed too....but he still likes people, all people...and his leg is a bad break....never may heal properly...:shakehead
I guess my next step will be...chop chop:osnap ......no horny squirrels in my house:D

I have 3 left to do...I had to squirt Chevy's half in his mouth and the rest on his face. In case you don't remember, he is VERY mean. This is hard when they are older.

I'm sorry others are showing symptoms. You caught this early and I hope and pray they will be okay. If I lived anywhere near you, I'd be there to help in a minute. You must be very stressed and tired. Anything else I can do please let me know.

Chevy ~take your medicine like a good boy.

Geez, I wish for anybody to come and help.....I have been at this all day long, and I am not even 1/2way done. I said to myself that I am through for the night...I grabbed my Sam, and we are going to watch a movie...which I am sure I will sleep through...in that case, Sam can sleep with me since Hubby is at the lake....while the hubby is away..the squirrels will play..

Everyone looks normal this morning, but there is alot of sneezing going on. I am going to give out meds in a minute...my hands are tore up from their claws last night, don't know how much more I can do and still have them left..I can not ever catch a squirrel with a glove....my net is too big...oh well, at least theyt don't bite me.....finally something positive.

Hang in there!! :grouphug I know the feeling on meds...and Roxy is tame. She still tore me up trying to get the Bactrim in her the last couple of weeks...and it was 10 days of Baytril before the Bactrim. :shakehead
