Julius is doing great! But he's at the next stage (5 Weeks) and I just want to make sure I'm fully prepared and aware of any changes... Diet, Feedings, Blocks, etc. I've read through a lot of the threads in the forums on here and gathered info. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

• Eyes: Haven't opened, yet!

• Poop: I still stimulate him after feedings, but sometimes he will poop all on his own.

• Top Teeth: They are coming in... And the poor fella is just grinding and gnawing away at his gums!!

• Food: He's eating 4-5 cc every 4 hours.

I stimulate them as long as they will allow it. It keeps the fleece SO much cleaner,
and some will pee so much when stimulating, it will totally wet an entire kleenex.
I keep them on formula as long as they take it. One group was over 6 months!
The very first food and only food should be some kind of block. Preferably HHB's.
You may see blood on the nipple of the syringe (if you haven't already) when they are teething.
What do they weight? "Rule of thumb" is 5-7% of their body weight.
What formula are they on?
Sometimes when their eyes first open, they only see shadows. Talk to him before approaching him,
he may lunge until he KNOWS it's you............yea, they are "Tough" when their eyes open. :rolf

I bought a scale, he wouldn't quite sit still but he was between 90-92 grams.

5-7% of 91 is 4.55-6.37 grams.

So should I feed him 4.5-6 cc???

I just want to make sure I do everything needed and correctly!

:thumbsup
90 grams @ 5% would be 4.5 cc's of formula each feeding
............. @ 7% would be 6.3 cc's of formula each feeding

92 grams @ 5% would be 4.6 cc's of formula each feeding
............. @ 7% would be 6.4 cc's of formula each feeding

And what type of block and where can I get it? And how much do I put in with him?

In my opinion the best block you can buy is Henry's Healthy Block. (HHB'S) Unlike commercial rodent block HHB's are made fresh and designed especially for squirrels and their nutritional needs. They need to be ordered on line/or by phone, you will not find them in any stores. For an adult squirrel it's 2 blocks per day, 1 bag should last a month. Many of us will cut them in half for juvies until they begin eating them on a regular basics to prevent waste.
Clicking the link below opens the Henry's web site:
http://www.henryspets.com/squirrel-diet/

Block is the first solid food you need to introduce your squirrel to and have them eating it and eating it well before introducing any other foods. (outside formula)
If you have not read the Healthy diet for pet squirrels with all they can eat and what they shouldn't eat I encourage you to read it. A proper diet for "captive" squirrels is essential to their health and survival.

Thank you! If there's anything else, or any other advice, I would appreciate it! Since Julius is my first, I want to make sure I do everything right!!
