You may want to read the thread about Roxy and losing her hair and weight-loss. That is all I can think of at the moment. I hope everything works out for him.

Assuming diet is correct it could be molting. Crittermom said her Mr. P is having hair loss that looks similar to what you posted. My Magnus is having hair loss that looks like yours. Patches of missing fur. He just had surgery for some swollen glands so I don't know if his hair loss is hormonal related to these glands or just a bad molt. Crittermom recommends emu oil if it'a just bad molting. Any other symptoms? Lethargy, lack of appetite?

Actually, this is really different. P never lost clumps of skin with the fur that way.

Is this happening all over or just on one part of the body?

It looks almost fungal in nature to me. My suggestion would be to get some Betadyne (povidone iodine) at the drug store. Make up a solution of water and betadyne - 15-20 drops of betadyne to 1/4 cup warm water - it will be the color of iced tea. Use a cloth and wipe down any areas this is happening - use enough that it gets through the fur and saturates her skin. It doesn't burn or hurt. I then use a little towel to soak up the excess and let my mad squirrel go. The betadyne/water will get rid of yeast, bacterial and fungal issues - it is pretty effective. Just leave it on the skin - and if she licks herself don't worry - it is non-toxic in those strengths. I have totally turned around what I believe was a staph infection on my guy this way. Do it twice a day and see if there is any improvement.
