Hi,
I have a visiting wild squirrel named Noodle, and today I have just noticed that he has a tiny streak of white paint on the tip of his ear. I don't know how he could have got that on his ear but maybe he went under a freshly painted fence or something? It wasn't there this morning but he has just paid a quick visit and I noticed it just now. I know I'm going to end up worrying now. Is paint harmful to squirrels? It's just a very tiny streak on the tip of his ear.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

He will be fine.
I have some very bold chipmunks in my yard that basically harass me nonstop until I pour them a big pile of sunflower seeds to carry away. Before I tackle any outdoor jobs I have to make sure I have enough sunflower seeds to get it done. I had one earlier this year who ran around with a metallic copper tail because I was spray painting and he simply wouldn't LEAVE. It molted out with no incident - I see him daily - though he is no longer sporting the bling. :grin2

Thank you Critter Mom. He's real special (as are all my wild squirrel friends) and I would hate anything bad to happen to him. Good for you using sunflower seeds for your chipmunks - really good idea :)

He is very cute! He will be fine, you will just be able to identify him a little easier until the paint wears off! :grin2

Thank you Tube Driver. Yes he is so very adorable. I've known him for 1 year and 9 months, but I feel like I've always known him. We have such a special rapport. He's 2 years old (I think he must be 2 exactly) :)

I see that's a favorite nut eating spot, unless you guys use nut shells as mulch over there! :grin3

You're right, CritterMom. Well observed! :)The patio is full of empty peanut shells over several years actually! I like it like that. I think it adds a very attractive and unique feature to the patio! Actually I don't feed them peanuts in shell so much now, just occasionally, but they get raw shelled hazelnuts (ocasionally I'll give them ones in shell), brazil nuts, almonds, walnuts, chopped mixed nuts and sunflower seeds.
Noodle likes walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and brazils best- peanuts last!
