We found what looks to be cysts on two of the baby's we picked up yesterday.
One is on the side of a baby's face and the other has one on his back.
Any ideas what this is?

To me, those look like infected puncture wounds and they look like they are abscessing.
It looks like there are scabs, is that accurate?

Uh Oh, I have seen that before. As MM said it could be an abscess BUT I really think it is a bot. My first baby had 2 bots. They are absolutely horrible this year. Most of my squirrels have them right now so I highly suspect they are bots.
If they are indeed bots, I can help. :grin2
I also have antibiotics that I can get to you today.

Thanks for the reply, poor little babies. Their skin is stretching over the bump...
Can we bring them by for you to look at them to evaluate?
When we picked them from Chris she shared the nest was covered in caterpillars, not sure this is info is helpful. When are in south tampa, can meet you anywhere that is convenient for you.

They literally appeared out of nowhere and we didn't notice any wounds when we first received them.

Now on of the bumps is oozing a tiny drop of greenish pus.
What should we do?

Now I'm in a total panic... just noticed one starting on the little girl. So all 3 have 1 bump. Each bump is at a different "stage". Attached is her bump and the other pic if of the boys oozing.

PWM, it's OK. Calm down!!
I'm at work now. Do you want me to look at them today? I'm in North Tampa. I live in southeast Hillsborough. Do you want to meet? I get off at 3PM. I could meet you in Brandon.
I did bring antibiotics with me just in case but if it's bots, they're not needed.
Let me know what you want to do?
The one that is oozing ... If you watch it you should be able to see it 'breath' if it's a bot. A tiny bubble will form. The first time I saw that I almost freaked out. It's totally GROSS but it's not a disaster so stop worrying.

It was a great treat to meet PeeWee'sMom and Coralreefer. :grin2
We really hit it off. It was like a mini gathering. We talked and talked. :tilt
I got to meet all 7 of the kids. They look great and are a cute as they can be. :grin2
I am >90% confident that the three little ones each have a bot.
They came up suddenly on unbroken skin and have the small pore that is characteristic of bot warbles. At this point they are very small but they are growing rapidly. It is too soon to think about removing them. When they get larger and the pore is clearly defined we will talk about pulling them. I would hate to see these tiny babies have fully developed warbles on them.
Two babies have warbles on the body, one has a warble on the side of the face. That one is a little more concerning. I don't foresee any problems. We got this! :thumbsup
It was nice to meet you both. :)

If the bots are very small then treat with a drop of revolution and the bot will die and the body will absorb. I would not let them grow on the face esp.

Coralreefer,
What adorable babies! The little whiskers and fuzzy chins are just too cute.
I agree that it's not an emergency where hours count at this stage. However, if Revolution could eliminate them, that would be ideal. I agree with C4S that bots on the face (and neck) can be bad news if left there. At least Florida is a squirrel friendly state so someone should be able to help with those if Revolution fails.
