Just got a text from my daughter stating that our Sammy was acting "weird and not doing well". She sent me a video but I can't post it. If someone can text me at 207-951-1860 I can send it to them. I'm leaving work now to go and see what I can do. I am a worried mess!! Please help me see if I can fix him. :(

I cannot help with your video but can you describe what you are seeing? It is beastly hot out - if he is outside, get him in to air conditioning if you can...

ok..Mksyniak says the squirrel is much better now, but sent the video anyway. There is no sound, but from what I can see the squirrel was typically agitated at something he heard or saw. Tail flicking, darting around furiously, very unsettled. (This is a red we're talking about -- all this occurs at the speed of light :grin2.) Mksyniak, was he making a clucking or 'whirrrrrrring' sound while he was doing this?

Oh, phew! I have little wild reds around here and when they get "tipped over" alarming at something they will go on and on and on until their little voices get all raspy, all with great snapping of tails, etc.
Very glad to hear this.

Thank you guys!!!!! I don't know why there was sound! Lol strange! There definitely is sound on my end! He was squeaking a lot and doing a "bark" sound in between squeaks... I'm so relieved! I love this guy so much! It's crazy!!!! Lol... I canceled out the rest of my day at work and rushed home after my daughter texted me LOL! He is my little nutkin!!!!!! <3
I feel so much better now. Just so unusual for him! Is there anything I should do when he is like this or just let him get it out of his system? ;) He is so funny....

He might have heard something outside (hawk call) or something inside (like a new vacuum cleaner etc) that set him off. He is just telling his entire family that he senses danger and to be careful.

He likely saw something outside - a hawk, a fox, a cat... I have a situation where I have a window on one side of my room that I close the drapes on when I have my boy out because the neighbor's dogs are often out in their yard. They terrify him and he will get all bent out of shape having a meltdown and NOTHING will calm him but getting him out of the room and back to his cage. He lays in his window in there and watches people walk their dogs all day long but these that run loos really upset him.
But random things like spotting a hawk outside you really can't predict. You can try to get his attention but I have watched them yelling right around a nut held in their mouth - they ain't stoppin' for NUTHIN'!
If there is something that you see that is frightening him, get rid of it and then just let him go - they do eventually wind down (but it takes a while).

Mkysniak, when they start alarming they can't stop. It's actually kind of fun to mess with them when they're doing it......sometimes I will give a small nut, like a hazelnut, to the one who is alarming and then laugh myself silly as "Nuk! Nuk! Whrrrrrrrrrr!" becomes "Nmppfff! NMPFFF! grgrgrglgrglgrglllll!" :rofl4 They just can't stop, nomatter what, once they start. :grin3
