My new pinkie boy has what looks like a pimple in the crease of his thigh. I now notice that the little girl I got last night also has one. THey are not related and have only been together for a few hours. My pox paranoia is rearing its ugly head. Please tell me I am nuts!

I think it's an ant bite. :tilt

I don't like the round, warty look of that, Gayle -- unless I am mistaken. I would see if another pops up on either of the babies and if so, would start acyclovir. The pyoderma my Phillip had looked like whiteheads, not warts. The warty look is....pox. :sadness

Am I wrong that pox is only transmittable by mosquito bites? It is just so odd that two from totally different areas are showing this odd bump. :dono

what is the dosage for an adult squirrel for acyclovir? Can it be given to a wild? Has anyone had success with Liquid Immune Barrier from California Academy?

I don't have any experience with Pox (Thank god!) but that does look like an ant bite to me too.

Hoping that it is an ant bite on both of them (damn ant had a field day in your container) and there are no more bumps. :)

Well, it had to be before they got here because they are in the incubator. The one on the female is drying up and looks better tonight. Hope it is gone tomorrow!

aaaah, gotcha. Forgot you have an incubator. Good, doesn't seem like it is pox after all.

I sure hope that's the case!

Hey Gayle, I would weigh in with either a bite or more likely, a staph infection. How many pinkies do you have?
Make sure that you wash carefully cos MERSA has been found in squirrels. Your baby is lucky to have you.

Yeah.. It looks like staph abcess to me. Theresas looked like a wartY blister. When vet lanced it .... He put them on keflexin. 2 of 3 that got the meds lived. It worked fast on them. Theresa had many other issues. ( she was the ine in cows milk and raw egg) 4 week old pinkie :(

I would consider an abcess med of your choice.

Picked the scab off and washed with betadine solution and it is GONE! Thank-you everyone!
