Hi. I'm new and I've been searching all over this board trying to find where yall get batril from.
There is an exotic pet store in town, bunnies, rats, guinea pigs ect..
Wonder if they carry it.
The reason why I want to get it is, my son found an itty-bitty baby squirrel I'm guessing 3-4 weeks old. Fell out of nest, im assuming, 259467
And the dogs found another one but it was too late. No mom came, eyes still closed, rehydrated well and ordedred fv after reading on here, eats fine, is very active, rooting and crawling around.
But last night she aspirated a little, she was being a little hog on the syringe.
I held her up side down for a bit.
She calmed down, I cleaned her up good. But now I here a little sniffle, like a little sneez every once in a while. No clicking yet but I want to nip it in the bud before it gets worse.
Thanks. D.

Call around to stores that sell aquarium/exotic fish. Ask if they sell antibiotics for fish tanks. Ciprofloxacin Tablets is what you are looking for. Have you tried finding a rehabber? Where in Texas are you located. We have lots of members from Texas.
What size syringe are you using, and what formula are you feeding? Don't hold the baby like you are in the photo, keep them upright when feeding, always directing the syringe toward the roof of their mouth.
They can easily aspirate if reclined.
What kind of container do you have him in? Do you have a non shut off heating pad UNDER HALF the container, set on low?
Go to this site and read about the care of baby squirrels. This is very informative, and it will
show you step by step what to do. At the top you will see a "NEXT" arrow. Click that on to get to the next page, and so on.

Just called the pet store, they don't have it.
Called the vet, they didn't want to deal with it.
:(
All I have on hand is penicillin and duramycin-10

The aquarium places call it "Fish Flox" BTW.
Cipro is a human med. A woman who has had a urinary tract infection would be likely to have a spare or two on hand. If you have friends, ask around.

Call around to friends and family. Ask if they have Clavamox, Cipro, just ask
what antibiotics they have. No penillin though, sorry. BUT if the only thing you can
find is Amoxicillin, that would be better than nothing.
WOW your stores open early in Texas! :)

Ok, picture is rotated. I do not feed her like that.
I've read everything I can on here about the care, and have done everything to a t.
She's in a tub, 1/2 on heat. With a towel.
Got syringes from cvs added a tiny nipple. She will not do without the nipple, I tried and tried.
Fed pedialyte for numerous feedings
She was very dehydrated.
Now we are doing fox valley,
I feed just like yall say, somehow she choked a little, and here I am.
I will call the pet store and ask for the med you listed.
I only posted the picture because I was sure someone would want to see one. So they could see her size, and appearance.

No towels they can catch their nails on the loops. Put in some fleece, or old tee shirts. They love tons so they can burrow down.
You need to get good syringes or this will continue to happen. You can order them at http://www.henryspets.com/ get the 1 cc syringes and a couple of 3 cc syringes. Also I like the silicone nipples, many prefer the miracle nipple, but I would get some of those as well.
Do you have a weight on the little one?
How much are you feeding and how often.
Where in Texas do you live, just the city, not the address.
Call aquarium places, the ones that sell exotic fish. That would be better than the pet stores.

Sorry it is a fleece bkanket.
I'm near Granbury.
I've contacted everyone I know, no one has anything.
I've called all the aquarium places, they all act as if I'm speaking another language saying they've never heard of it.
Some just say no, with out even looking.
She's not sounding off yet but I want to be prepared if she does.

WalMart of all places has an aquarium section. I have seen it there sometimes. I think you can order it online too. Baytril is only by RX.
A vet that will see exotics would likely have the concentrations that you need (not concentrated enough and you'll have to give large doses and too concentrate and there comes a time where it's hard to be precise). I remember my vet used to stock banana flavoured baytril which way way better than the flavoured injectable stuff. Barring access to a vet, some avian supplies stores will sell it (try supplies for people who breed pigeons) but you may need to purchase a very large quantity and you need to be really certain of your dosage calculations. For example, this place (I'm not affiliated with the place, the link just propped up after a quick search) appears to sell a number of broad spectrum ABs including Baytril, Doxy, Amoxi.

That's about the only place I can think of where you stand a chance to get Baytril without a vet consult and a prescription, unless you know someone with pet rats who recently dealt with URIs, they might have some leftover.
