There are now two confirmed live chipmunks running around my house. They were brought in by my cat and theyre in my basement currently. Any ideas on louring them out of hiding or trapping them? I just had one chippy pass away and would like to save the others. We have one double door trap which had only worked once in the few years we have owned. Also any advice on how to stop the cat from harrasing critters without keeping him indoors?

First, there is NO WAY to stop a cat from 'harassing' critters. And killing them. Even putting a bell around their necks doesn't work; they learn to run with chin down so the bell is silenced.
You need to go to Home Depot and get one of the small Hav-aHeart traps. They work perfectly for mice & rats and a chippie is somewhere in between in size.

Hav-a-hart trap. Smallest one. And then put some peanut butter, seeds etc. at the end right after the trigger... if you must, place a few - and I mean three - seeds leading in to the trap. Too many treats outside the trap and no reason the chippie will go in.
Cats: Build an enclosure for them using hardware cloth so no critters or birds can get in and cats can't get out. That way they can go outside (even let the grass grow through the cage bottom, fill with some dirt for digging etc.), and can't catch or harass other animals/birds. You can build it as big as you want - check online for ideas. There are fabulous designs out there. Let your imagination run wild. Furnish with cat trees and ledges and drinking fountain and toys and everything they'd love - besides live animals to torture. If money is an issue, build it small and add on as you can...
Otherwise, keep them indoors. They will whine and meow and drive you bonkers for a month, then they'll stop.

I have had some really good success with my older cats and the cat bib. https://catgoods.com/ Young cats - not so much. Its worth a shot. You can also use a harness and add bells to the back middle line of it. That way it is harder for them to keep it from ringing. And w/ a harness you get a a few days of YouTube clips that are hilarious when you first put it on them. :grin3
