A friend rehabber sent me this pic today asking if I thought pox. I have no experience with pox, but it didn't look like it from the pics I have seen. Any ideas?
She says it is like a hard crusty glove and she has a spot on her abdomen and under her chin. :dono

Is there a picture to go with this, or just the description? :poke

Not pox, but not sure what it is, either. Is there something stuck around the foot? Very odd. Can they get a better pic?

It looks like he only has one nail on the foot. :dono
Is the whole foot "encrusted'?

SM, this looks like a fungus of the same type that the squirrel in another thread had on his nose -- I don't know what it is but it has a similar appearance.

I agree and we've had a few like cases of such on the board.
:poke We really do need to find an answer to this "fungus"
if that's what it is and an answer what and how to treat it.

Any idea if it is safe to use antifungal OTC human meds?

We're saying fungus but we really don't know what that condition is?? I wouldn't know if a human antifungal med would be safe considering how a squirrel grooms itself.
I do know one of the natural remedy's for fungi, yeast and the like is apple cider vinegar. I've used it on myself for thrush and toe nail fungi and my son was told to use this on his dog who had a scabby patch with hair loss. It works! It would be a safer route to try.

Thank you step! How far did you dilute it?

Fungus is first thing I thought, too. I wonder if a scrape would be possible to check? Do they have vet access?

My son was told by his vet a 50-50 solution for his dog,
also suggested purchasing a good brand.
When I had that damn thrush I practically rinsed with it
straight out of the bottle. That thrush crap is miserable!
Apple cider vinegar is anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial. :great

Apple cider vinegar is awesome....I sip it warm, with honey added, anytime I have a sore throat or think I'm getting a cold. It's a singer's secret weapon; ACV will get you through a performance even if you woke up with laryngitis. Definitely worth a try, in this case, if you can get the squirrel to take it or to sit still for it to be put on.

My mom was told by her nephrologist to put " some" in her bath water to help prevent bacterial UTI.

It's a wonderful thing.
