WELL I CATCH BEST LUCK ,

i have d 4 grays since they were just a little fuzz on them , they had now transitioned to outdoor cage for pre release and i bring incage at night and do it every day for bout 2 weeks , then put cage in woods for few days then eventually leave door open and they go in a few days . i own bout 50 wooded acres for them even thou some jackhole keeps sending me letters to clear cut grrrrrrrrr

well yesterday went out to find lilly sitting on bottom of cage and yes dragging back legs . ive rehabbed for over 10 years legally here in NC , and now im just bummed , took to my vet yesterday xrayer showed an abnormality in a vertebre and doc said it would have happened sooner or later and i cant imagine out alone and cant move . maybe a blessing and curse . doc is waiting to call to talk to another specialist to see what drugs to put her on

the good news is she has feeling and good circulation in legs and has moved her tail . she can pee and poop but i keep checking bladder. doc pinched toes and she pulls her hips up . so not a full spinal break.

the problem is im getting older being doing this long time , love it but i dont think me or my wife as we still work can give lilly the 100 percent she needs , and i dont want her to fail because i fail her . if anyone is close to nc or in nc that have disabled squirrels or experience and could take on this task i would do the best i could for lilly .

if not it is ok we will do the best god lets us be . you can pm with help info , or just talk , or just what i should do or not do . ive been fortunate to be around these busy tailed friends and i would do it all again . thanks for listening .:grouphug:grouphug:grouphug

:Welcome I'm sorry to read about Lilly, however if nothing else at least you were able to take her to a vet for xrays and find out what's going on. If there is still some feeling there she may possibly recover limited use of her hind legs.

Thank you for looking after this one. There's a chance someone may be able to help out, what general area of NC are you in... and would you be able to upload a photo? Any additional information is helpful for determining what the situation is. :great

thanks , to all
she is around 10 to 11 weeks ,

when i hold her she flexes tail hair in and out from poofy to straight
she is being kept in quiet room since it happened ,

they all grew up on fox valley formula , they are suppose to email scans of xrays .

Cool. You're fortunate to have a vet to go to... many here don't have that option.

This may take a little time, hoping we can connect you. 10-11 weeks as a non-releasable is definitely a commitment.

yeah i got good vet thankfully

i had one i kept with head injury for 10 years ,sadly he passed few years ago . but im older now with health problems of my own and its just hard . and i love lilly to death , almost lost her as a baby to pneumonia but she made it thru , i really thought it was gonna go as usual til this hit her . if no one can help i will give her the best life i can .

vet called back and said no steroids because at this time it could make things worse . feeding her tonight i did notice her tail hairs moving .

so im keeping her quiet and gently exerising her legs as dont want atrophy .:grouphug:grouphug

hi , lilly is still paralyzed , but she has feeling in feet and tail , she moves them so often, i wish someone with more expierence are had other paralyzed squirrels could take her , but we love her and are doing best we can , i know shes lonely thou , and its tough , i did build a wire enclosure maybe 5 by 5 to take her r roam outside in the grass which i know she likes . sorry this keyboard is screwed up , sometimes jumbles words together . :grouphug

will keep posted, also im exerecising legs daily so not to atrophy .
