Baby LuLu is about 4 weeks old, eyes still closed. She weights 45.1 grams. She is a red squirrel. I have been feeding her powered esbilac every 2-3 hours including during the night. Not that I am complaining about waking up 3x a night BUT I have to admit I am looking forward to when she can be fed less frequently. I have fox valley 20/50 on hand for when she opens her eyes. My question is, what is the feeding schedule for her now that she is 4 weeks? Is it still every 2-3 hours? When does it become less frequent? Is the rule that when she opens her eyes, I should start transitioning her to the Fv 20/50? Thank you for any advice!

Others can advise more specifically, here's a general snapshot:

At 4 weeks old I am generally feeding my squirrels every 4 hours.
You can stop the night feeding between 4 & 6 weeks of age.

Ok, sounds like I can go to every 4 hours and will slowly start lengthening the time between night feedings until she's 6 weeks. Thanks for everyone's help!

Once you finally get her completely converted to the FV (take your time doing this - I'd spend a few days combining formulas to do it) you will find that they digest the Fox Valley more slowly, so you will be able to push the feedings a bit further apart. Keep an eye out for that when you are switching over.

Didn't know that! Thanks for the advice :)

So now I have a related question. Stimulating. Should I be stimulating her more often than I am feeding her now that I've gone to every four hours? The last few times I've stimulated her after feeding, it seemed to me like she REALLY had to go. I don't want her to get a uti or be uncomfortable.

Anyone?

It certainly won't hurt her - perhaps halfway through at the 2 hour point.

I use a schedule much like what bravo posted so... I don't night feed after 2/3 weeks on "most" occasions. I have done it, but I skip the night feeds if they are not emaciated.
I do stimulate after every feed though.. Probably just me LOL ... I don't freak out about it if they skip a poo or two. But they usually go regularly.
I do that until their eyes open about that time you will see poops in the box.
