What type of bedding is best? I don't want the little ones to eat anything that is harmful to them. (My washer is starting to hate me from washing the babies blankets lol )

Does anyone use any type of rodent bedding or any type of hay?

:)Hi Ms. Dawn, other than fleece the second most recommended bedding product is Critter Care, it also comes in white and natural color, however you don't want to get the variety that has baking soda added.:thumbsup

So if I use critter care I won't have to worry about them eating it?

:)Critter Care is recommended over everything else for that reason, but you want the type that doesn't have baking soda, it can be irritating to their respiratory system. Most wood shavings especially cedar, produce irritating odors, and some types of newspaper ink can be toxic.:tilt

:)The Critter Care still needs changing as necessary, having just a couple of extra fleece blankets to change out would be more economical. Squirrels are generally clean animals including their poop, I know you probably don't want to wash squirrel bedding with regular loads of laundry, however if you had several blankets you could change one a day and wash a single load of them each week.:thumbsup

Well the only reason why I ask is because I had to put one of my rescues in a smaller cage due to seizures and the bottom is plastic. I just want her to be comfy :) she is a special little girl. She is what I consider as a "lifer".

Critter care, Care fresh is generally used for litter pans/trays. I have not heard it used for squirrel "bedding." The majority of member's here use fleece for bedding as a squirrel likes to borrow, cover and nestle down in it. Fleece also provides a nice padding especially for one prone to seizures.
You could also use material like cut up sheets, pillow cases and old t-shirts. No towels or other material with a loop fiber that they could get their nails hung up in or on and cause injury.

No hay, too dusty and also can cause a squirrel respiratory problems.
