Recently a member here learned to do a fecal float at home and was able to ID some parasites. I know many of us do this.

But a problem arises when we have small animals with small samples . Or extremely watery stools. Lord knows that was my problem last summer. So I had wondered if there was another way. And low.. There is!

I am taking a parasitology course ATM and boom there it was. Why didn't my vet mention this last summer ?!?

It's called a direct smear. Sure there are drawbacks .. Like the poo is still there : it's not separated like it is in a float. But when you have those watery poos....

I will continue to look for more directions.
