Adult female was caught by dog late yesterday,and shaken. She flops around. Spine feels intact. Her weight is 574 grams. She eats and drinks on her own, pees and poop in her crate. I put her on metacam last night. But tonight she is stiffing up. What else can I do?

I'm thinking there is swelling around her spinal cord -- prednisone maybe?

You've done as much as I'd know to do outside trying to bring her sugar level up.
Is she on heat?

Yes I heat set on low but she stays on the other side of crate.

I have pred but she has already had metacam. I know you cant use the two together.

Right, you can't......the stiffening is what worries me. There may be a fracture you can't feel. :(

So what do I do? No more metacam for 24 hours? Then put her on pred and tramadol? Can I give her tramadol in the morning ? What are the chances of recovery from this type of shaking?

You can give her tramadol in the a.m.......then the pred later tomorrow night, as you said. Other than keeping her well-hydrated and warm, there isn't much else you can do.

Thank you. can someone give me dosing for the pred? I have 5 ml pill I will need the break down and dosing . She weighs 574 grams . I will not give it to her until tomorrow night.

She has a broken rib,and I had half of her tail amputated where it was mangled by the dog. Any idea of how long it will take for the rib to heal? What meds she she be on for this? It also appears that her right wrist is healing from a previous break the bone looks to be almost healed but is still swelling .
