Baby needs help! Ear looks BAD

Hey everyone, I haven't posted in a LONG time but someone on Facebook posted a baby squirrel photo and I can't find the number for a wildlife rehab. The person who found it is in Interdependence Missouri. I gave him the number to the Wildlife Center of Missouri to call. People are telling him to kill the little guy.. not sure what advice to give but I told him to keep his distance so he doesn't run off.

Good Evening Kalora, tried to enlarge the image for a better view, impossible to tell if this is an abscess or something foreign like mud. I certainly feel this Lil' One should be trapped.:sadness

It is a wound of some kind - those are flies on it. Aw. I hope they bring this poor little thing in. A cleanup and better photo would sure help.

I thought it was mud too but I wasn't sure about why there were flies there.

I was so upset because the group this was posted in was a local pet buy/sell group and they REMOVED the post completely. I will never know what happened to this lil' guy but I posted that phone number and all the information I could. :sadness I'm so upset at the admins for removing the post :tap

Thank you for all the replies. I hope the baby ended up okay. The poster sounded interested in calling instead of hurting him so here's hoping. I suppose this post can be removed now since there is no way for me to get updates about him anymore.

Those are fly eggs. They need to be washed off and his ear cleaned out. Possibly antibiotics. There is no reason to euthanize.
