Hi Squirrel Boarders,

I just received a call from a friend who works for a local fire department and a tree was cut down with two babies in it. I have not picked them up yet but said I would take them until I can find a true rehabber. I raised two babies from pinkies and had a successful release but I have a newborn at home and do not have the funds or the time needed to raise them properly. I live in Newark, Ohio and my only day off is tomorrow so I need to have a home for them tomorrow.

Please help! My husband will NOT be pleased that I am taking them so they will need to be in a good home by tomorrow. I am currently at work, but will be checking my inbox OFTEN!!

Thanks in advance!

Found this:

The place is in Columbus and I can take them there tomorrow. What do you think? I really cannot take them far due to having a newborn. I will have to take her with me.

I spoke with Vicki, a rehabber in my area, she will take them for you. I am on hiatus at this time from rehabbing. I will pm her number to you but she wont be able to call you back until 9-10 tonight. Can you meet halfway to the Akron area? I can meet you to get them from you. Please hydrate and keep them warm, do you have esbilac with probiotics? Can you feed them diluted esbilac after you hydrate them. As soon as you have information about these babies, their age, let me know please.

I cannot travel that far. I am going to take them to the Ohio Wildlife Center that is in Columbus. That is way closer to me. They are a non-profit group of volunteers and I think they will be well cared for.

There are actually three babies. Here is a picture. They are still at the fire department as I am still working. I can hydrate them tonight but I do not have any esbilac or other suitable formula (wish I would have kept the tiny bit of Fox Valley I had left)

My cousin lives in Kettering Oh. He or his wife may be able to help with a squirrel train. I don't know if Kettering is close or on the way near you or where you want them to go.

I called them and left a message to make sure that they would accept them, but from reading on their website it seemed to me that there were no limits on their acceptance of animals. Fingers crossed.

Ohio Wildlife center is a great center. I volunteer there and take some of their babies home :).

Indeed I do. I'm from Northeast Ohio but am currently in vet school at OSU, so I live in Columbus.

I have to drop a heating pad I borrowed off at the wildlife center today and checking on my guys that I took back to the center on Saturday, so I might see your little tykes if you take them this morning. I will make sure they get settled in :).

:thumbsup good job, everyone -- special thanks to SR&B2 if she can 'check on the kids' :grin3
I will move this out of Emergency so it doesn't trigger emails to admins here.
