Hello all, I have several fruit trees in my yard not on the list. So my guess is they are not safe. I am just putting this out there in case anyone knows. Peach, plum, apricot, nectarine, lemon, lime, orange and pear. The only one that I know out of these that is safe is pear. Just was hoping some of these might be safe for some variety. thanks, Rexies mom

This is an interesting list - made for degus: http://www.degutopia.co.uk/degutoxic.htm
Stay away from all of the stonefruit wood, leaves, pits and peel - oddly enough, the fruit itself is fine. Stonefruit are peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries and the like.

That's interesting some of the ones they have listed. .. I used to give eucalyptus branches to my parrot and sugar glider all the time (until I killed my eucalyptus tree on accident) and I give maple branches, leaves, helicopter seeds and sprouted seedlings to the squirrels. They also have pinecones as toxic?
I would just die if anything I gave them made them sick

Degus apparently have some specialty issues with sugar, which would account for the maples for sure. I usually check dog/cat, bird, and any human toxicity when I am hunting up stuff to give. I, too, give maple tips/helicopters, etc.

"helicopter seeds" are the little seeds that maple trees create. They look - and fly - like helicopters.
Citrus is considered toxic to a lot of animals, but both of my squirrels will eat the little clementines occasionally. Raspberries are fine and I can't imagine that you would use the branches or leaves - you can't get within 6 feet of the %$#@&^ things without getting stuck on the thorns...

I have the thornless blackberry bushes. I found them at lows a few years ago. They don't produce too much but are big so I can cut him some branches to munch on and the it to good use. Thanks for your reply..

Man! I have given plum branches from a dead tree to mine :(
I have seen my wilds eat the maple seeds and buds etc. etc..
Wait .. Are we talking sugar gliders!? But still.. I would think they were close enough related.
Nope! Sugar Gliders are a whole different ball game.

This list says pine cones are toxic???
There are multiple threads of people giving their squirrels pine cones and them loving it.
What to believe??
