I have been introducing my Zoe Bug to the outdoors. SHE LOVES IT! And I have just as much fun watching her run and play in the trees. BUT when its starts to get towards the evening she comes to the door and wants in to sleep in her old little cage she hasnt been in since she was a baby. Is this normal behavior?

Is this a squirrel that has already been released? Sometimes, a released squirrel will stick around and use their old nest box. If so, it is a great arrangement, you both get to enjoy each other's company and the squirrel can live it life the way it is supposed to, in the wild!:w00t

Sounds very normal to me. She is soft-releasing herself, running aorund and exploring by day, then returning to her safe nest box by night. She's no dummy...she knows that nighttime is when the bad things go hunting.

All three of my babies did this last year. They came home every night for 2 months. Then one by one they stopped coming. Trust me the first night she doesn't come home you will be worried to death. Mine still check in every now and then I love getting to see them and knowing they are doing good.

So when I build her nest box how high do I have to get it in the tree? I dont want to put it to low or she may not use it. 3 nights now she has come home to run and play in the house and get into the goodies..lol :) I LOVE IT!! I know shes safe :)

As high as possible but I have always been told at least 15 ft.
