Dog thought he was a toy and "tapped" him with his paw. 60 pound dog vs 93 gram squirrel--guess who won! This sweet boy dragged himself around for HOURS! I have Prednisone, Metacam and Tramadol. What would you advise. If it's just swelling maybe he can regain the use of his back legs

What strength Prednisone?
How bad is he Pat? Do they completely drag or
can he lift them a little? Is there any movement?
Does he urinate and defecate when stimulating?

Pred is what Gayle sent in a pm. I have it mixed up for Grady. Shall I send the dosing to you that I got. Thus far his legs are pretty limp. I haven't had him long enough to do much more than give him some homemade hydration. Folks that brought him saw a squirrel check him out but she left him. He pulled himself all over that yard. He's pretty noisy but don't know if it's because he's hungry or because he hurts. If he's bent but not broken I'd like to give him something to
Keep swelling down. I have 20 mg tablets and 10 mg tablets. I can mix up fresh.
Ohohoh--just tried to potty him. No pee--needs more fluids BUT his little legs were moving some! :bliss

OK I will give you dosing for Prednisone and Tramadol.
This will take me a minute to write up.
I will send in a pm.
Make sure he is fully hydrated before giving him any meds.

I just saw that now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dance
Since he did move his legs, we can do Metacam and Tramadol.
Metacam will reduce inflammation and also help with pain,
this can be used with Tramadol. If you chose this route, you can't use Prednisone.
I will dose the metacam for you as well. This would be my choice since his
legs moved. You cannot use Prednisone with Metacam, I know you know that.
Do you have the 1.5mg/ml?

Yep! He's asleep with the eyes closed baby found in the same yard. It's smaller but I guess it could be a littermate. It is now. I'll be checking everytime I give him a drink for movement. I always need to discount the wishful thinking factor. He hasn't peed yet so when the time comes, if movement--Metacam. If no movement--prednisone. It'll be late before he gets anything but homemade pedialyte.
Thanks darlin!
