View Full Version : Shaking and favoring one hind foot

Ive had this particular baby for about two weeks and she's been doing well, but something attacked her nest originally and her family was killed, she fared pretty well except for a bloody nose and Is gaining weight. However I noticed early on that she didn't use one of her hind legs at all, it didn't seem broken and she could move it so I knew it wasn't paralyzed. She just seemed to favor the one leg but didn't seem in pain so I figured I'd keep an eye on it. She started doing this thing when she walked or stood that was kind of like shivering or shaking slightly and at first I thought it was because her balance was off because she was only using one hind leg. However now, even though she's using her hind leg more shes "shivering" mor often, even when she's not standing. Its really worrying me. I don't think it's a seizure though as she is responsive and able to move while its happening. Could this be like a spinal trauma related thing or something? I've never seen this before and I'm at a loss for what to do to help her.

Sorry Ive been gone for the weekend, I'm very worried about her leg, she puts full weight on it now and it doesn't bother her and the shaking thing is gone but I'm almost 100% sure her hip is displaced, the back edge of her hip is sticking out and swelled up. She doesn't act like it hurts at all now, but obviously it used to hurt, that's why she used to avoid putting weight on it. I feel awful now because she's been living with it this whole time and I didn't know what was wrong. She didn't act in pain just sore and I couldn't tell until recently because it wasn't swelled up and obvious. I have no idea how to pop it back in place and if that's even possible now that it's been so long. I need all the help I can get I'm very worried about her.

Please don't even try! Ligaments could be torn and if a fracture a break could occur.
An x ray would be required even for an experienced professional.

If you can get a weight and some liquid infant ibuprofen to dose, it could
help her comfort level as well as help to reduce swelling and inflammation.

Don't try "popping" any thing back into place. They heal really fast. Chances are since you've had her so long her injury healed the best it could but not a proper recovery. and they try hard not to show injury or pain. Its what they are hard wired to do. showing signs of injury in the wild is like them having a target on their back.
Any pics or video of the sweet sweet baby?
