I have a flyer and I think she has pneumonia. She clicks when she breathes and is getting weak. Any rehabers in Asheville?

Tell us more about her. How old, how much does she weigh, what does she eat, how often, is she clicking with every breath?

It's every breath. She I'm not sure of her weight but I could tell she wasn't growing anymore and was starting to look smaller. She eats a 3:1 esbilac/water mixture about.75-1cc every 5 hours. she occasionally nibbles on skinned grapes or sweet potato. I skipped a feeding and gave her some hydration two days ago because she was constipated. But once that passed she was good until last night she didn't eat as much and this morning I clearly heard the clicking. She is starting to feel cold to the touch

Do you have a vet? That is really the best option. How old is she? Can you take a picture and post it along with something like a chapstick or other item we are familiar with the size of for perspective? What do you have available for antibiotics?

Are you anywhere near Raleigh? There is a great vet there who treats squirrels.

You need to get her on supplemental warmth ASAP. Do you have any human antibiotics in the house, or know any one who might? If so we would need to know the name and size in milligrams. Cipro is popular for humans and can be used in squirrels for example. See what you can find and report back.

3 to 1 is WAY too dilute for a baby flyer. You need to gradually get to 2 to 1 and then perhaps begin adding a bit of cream and yogurt per some help you will find HERE. Baby is not getting enough nutrition.

I don't have a vet, she was a rescue I was trying to raise for release. Her eyes opened a week and a half ago, I think she is 5 1/2 weeks. She is fully furred and her tail is starting to widen out. She came from a tree we had unfortunitely cut for firewood not knowing she was in there

She has a heating pad for supplemental warmth but I don't have any antibiotics. Is there something over the counter I can use?

:)Good Morning friendlyflyer, you are an hour from Charlotte where SammysMom mentioned the good veterinarian, could this be an option for you.:great I believe you've had her approx 2 weeks, Flyers make a click or chirping noise it is their nature, does the noise she is making now sound much different than her previous chirping. Has she ever aspirated any formula in the past, are you feeding her with her head down syringe pointed up. Can you upload a photo of her next to a common item such as a chapstick or soup can, her proper weight is necessary in order to dose medication for her.

Sometimes a friend or Family member could have a single cipro tab left over from a prescription, they are commonly prescribed for UTI's and such

Please stay on the Board and you will get as much help as possible.:great
