How old are the babies?
What formula are you feeding them?

Is this the first baby you have raised? It isn't odorless, it does have some odor. Esbilac does make their pee a bit stronger, in my opinion (still what you should be using to feed). How often are you feeding her and how much? Does she seem dehydrated at all? You can offer a little sugar water in between feedings to see if that will help (and in doing so, you will be pottying more often, so it doesn't have as much time to sit in the bladder). That may help. But it does have a some odor to it. If you have never done one before, you may just be more sensitive to it.

I have had her for three weeks shes hydrated and growing like crazy but here lately its been a little bit hard getting her to potty and sometimes just a bit comes out! This is my first squirrel, i love her very much... Her eyes sometime look like they are about to open i can see them trying ooen dont no if it will happen soon. I want them to so bad but i will be patient. My friend has the other squirrel i couldnt take on two at the same time i have a five month old baby girl and two little boys as well im very busy lol. I dont have a gram scale but i messure her once a week and so far she has almost grown two inches, my concern is she has alot of fur already had bottom teeth and has the start of white belly fur but my friends baby squirrel (my baby squirrels sister) has barly any fur and is much smaller, i also have the runt but she is bigger then the other squirrel now...there developments are different is this normal...could the mom had one a week earlier than the other one??? Sorry so many questions! She hold her own body heat and my friends baby squirrel doesnt... Its just weird and mine looks about a week older than hers

I hate to be the party pooper here, but I am very concerned about these two siblings being separated and kept by you and your friend...with no experience in wildlife rehabilitation, I'm guessing? Is your intention to keep them as pets? You do realize that in your state it is illegal to possess a squirrel without a rehab license. Your friend's squirrel is not holding her body heat? This is NOT a good sign. Does she have it on heat?
The reason your baby squirrel is not peeing properly could be a UTI -- urinary tract infection. This causes smelly urine AND the slowing down of the urine stream, and must be treated with antibiotics. This is one of the reasons why Keeping wildlife without access to a wildlife veterinarian is not a good idea.
In a perfect world, both these babies -- yours and your friend's -- would be reunited and brought to a qualified rehabilitator who would raise them to RELEASE. They would stay sisters and BFF's for the first 6 months out there and have each other for company. Please consider this, and let us try to find someone for you.

Oh, just read what you wrote. You cannot possibly know how much to feed her w/o knowing her weight, as she is fed based on her weight (or should be). Are you planning on keeping her as a pet? They really should not be raised as a single baby, they really need to be with other squirrels. If she is slowing down on peeing, that is a different story. That could very well indicate a UTI, which you will need medication from a vet to treat.
Is your friend keeping it on heat? They should be on a heating pad (one w/o an auto shut off), on low, under half their container. Does your friend have a scale? These babies both sound like they need help. As cute as they may be right now, they do NOT make good pets, and if you get caught, that baby will be taken and euthanized, and you will get a very hefty fine. If this is a UTI, it CAN become deadly eventually, as well.
And the other baby sounds like it is in very serious trouble, as well.

I know you have good intentions with these little babies and the thought of having a squirrel as a pet sounds wonderful. The work, time, diet & knowledge it takes to raise one of these babies successfully for release is ALOT...and risky if you have never done this before. If your state is "illegal" to care or have a squirrel in your posession, the state can come and confiscate your squirrel and euthanize. (Unless you have a license to Rehab)
I learned my lesson the hard way & it not only broke my heart, but I let this beautiful baby down. I thought I could take care of him & thought I knew what was best. Clearly I didn't.
There are experienced, licensed rehabbers on this board that would be able to care for these two little ones. I know in my heart that they would love these babies and care for them just like you.
Just saying, something to think about. If I could go back and change the decision that I made, I would in a heartbeat to save his previous life.
God Bless,

I am in the process of getting a licence for her! I will keep her and i will not turn her over... My friend is bestfriends with a vet i can get antibiotics, i came to this bord for help not for a lecture i have done so much research i came here for support.... Not for people to be rude. I have done an amazing job with her. She eats well poops well and she stays warm with a heating pad. I love this baby and i was told by wild life rehabilitation when i found them to throw them in the woods and let mother nature take its course....i will not do that nor will i hand her over to anyone. She is safe with me and does very well besides this problem. I live out of city limits in the country. My friend who has the other one t g is is not her first squirrel she has raised but it is mine... Cant judge a boom by its cover i will be the best i can be for her and take on a responsibility thats challeging because i no i can i jist need help. I have found other wild animals that i have raised then released bunnies, raccoons, baby birds and succeeded with them. I f i can rais a baby bird then i can raise a baby squirrel no problem. Please dont doubt me just need a bit of direction and good support, i have seen other posts similar to mine and they got great advice and very good support and a good walk tgru. I would like the same. Please help me amd if you can then i am and will be determined to find the help i need. Thank you

Everyone's advice above is spot on. They really need to be with siblings or other babies. Most rehabbers will even work with other rehabbers if they have a single baby to find other babies to put them with
I had an orphan that was alone for a couple weeks until I received a foster brother for her and I can't even explain the instant love and joy she showed as soon as she had him to cuddle. Watch a group of babies together and you realize this
If they are getting the proper care, you don't usually see such a difference between siblings development. Your friends squirrel needs help from your description
And I know babies are alot of work and you said you are so busy that you could only take one, but the juvenile and adults are WAY more time consuming and more work than babies. I can raise a basket of babies easier than keeping one grown squirrel happy
And keep in mind with children that they go through puberty and start biting family members. HARD. They can easily bite through bone.
And once they start wilding up you can't just set them free especially raised as a single squirrel pet
They are adorable and irresistible but they have specific needs and aren't easy

And it does sound like you're doing great! I understand where you're coming from.
I've raised baby birds also and you're right, they KILL me with feeding every 20min !
But I overwintered falls squirrel babies for the first time this year and it's HARD... They are in a 8ftx8ft 6ft high indoor enclosure and I spent hours and hours every day keeping them from going stir crazy. And that's a big enclosure
Long term their care is an all consuming endeavor
I don't want you to think I'm rude... just want to share my experience with you :grin3

Is she having difficulty peeing when you stimulate her? You mentioned the pee is somewhat yellowish, is it ever clear or darkish/brownish? Is her hair spiky? Can you post up a recent pic?
Can you tell us what formula you are using, how much and on what schedule?
In the immediate short term, here is some info on feeding your baby. There is lots of info out on the internet but much of it is wrong or not ideal. You MUST get an accurate scale so you can measure weight. It is CRITICAL to feeding the proper amount.

So weight is about 60g? You really need to get an accurate scale so so you can record her weight daily in grams. You can then monitor whether or not she is losing or gaining weight and also how much formula to use on a daily basis!
To put up pics, you can upload your pics to a picture hosting site like photobucket and then just paste a link of the pic from photo bucket in your post here on the the TSB.
Here is a thread that covers ways to upload a pic:
