A dear friend of mine just contacted me b/c her daughter found 4 pinkies on the ground and didn't know what to do. They know that I have a squirrel man who i successfully raised to be a bouncing chubby 1 year old! (I am completely obsessed with him btw!) anyway They are in their house right now but i advised they should put them in a shoe box lined with fleece and put them in area found. The main question is tonight its supposed to drop into the 50's so if mama hasnt come to retrive them by a certain time should they bring them inside, keep warm and return at sunrise? If so Should they try and offer pedialyte (with a syringe if course)? I hope we can help this family save these sweet babies so any advice is welcomed! Thx!!!

Does she know if the nest is intact or if the mother is around? Aside from putting them in the box near the base of the tree where their nest is, or where they were found, have her keep a close eye from afar to make sure no predators come around. When she first puts them out she can see if she can get one of them to make the "mama call" that way if mom is around it will get her attention. I've heard it suggested that you can carefully hold one of the babies upside down by a back leg to get it to start calling for mom.
Here is a link to the mama cry, some people have played this on their speakers trying to alert moms. Not sure how that worked though.

Yes, please place them back at the bottom of the tree in a box with some warm fleece in the box to keep them warm and give mom a good two hours to come back for them. If mom has not returned for them by dark or with in a few hours take the babies back inside and place them in some fleece on top of a heating pad set on low. Warm them completely before offering any homemade pedialyte, then feed the liquid based on 5-7% of their body weight.
Homemade Pedialyte:
1 cup warm water
1/4 tsp salt (teaspoon)
1 tbsp sugar (tablespoon)
