I have been contacted by a member seeking a member to take over care of Butters. She is in the Alexandria area but will be heading to Baton Rouge this evening. I am unable to assist due to being out of state due to a medical emergency in the family. If anyone could help out I believe her screen name is Heavenleigh. You can PM me for a phone number. I will try to keep a close check on my inbox. Thanks in advance!

This baby needs some help. Thank you Heavenleigh for reaching out. Anyone in the area or know of contacts?

I know it's a hard thing to do, but truly loving means providing the best possible care, even if it's not with you. Getting Butters to an experienced rehabber is a very unselfish act, and the kindest thing you can do for him. He's just a young guy, a baby still, and with proper care he'll be able to grow up to enjoy a long healthy happy squirrely life in the treetops. You've made a good decision Heavenleigh:grouphug

From what I understand they have lost their residence and will be moving today and so it's urgent that we locate someone who can get this baby and get him the care he needs. I haven't been on the forums much due to family issues and I was contacted via my e-mail. I am going to PM Czarina and Darklies since they are the only ones that I know of in that general area. If anyone knows of anyone else please let them know about this thread.

I would take him gladly but there's just no way we could drive that far... I'd be willing to go as far as say, Huntsville? Hopefully there's someone else closer...

Thanks Robin. If I was home I would gladly go get him too but I am in west TN right now helping nurse my FIL through his final hours.

Just after I ordered his cage. An awesome one at that did my landlord come by and say I didn't pay my pet deposit in time then with everything else going on. A poodle with a disablity. I can't do it And like I told alittlenutty I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN Y'all know hopefully so far. I have been fighting tooth and nail for my baby and to know what and do what's right. But as. I can see. This is not the time for me to have him. Though I do ask for an OPEN ADOPTION ONLY! Please. My time has been extended for being in Alexandria until Tuesday but I will and can head south to BR before then if he has a home. I'm in the position that we will be sleeping in my trail blazer when times up. Long story short I'm a recovering addict whom I don't have anyone to turn to for help because , we'll HELL. I don't need that kind of person in my life again! Lol so that should answer any Q's on why I don't have anywhere to stay when leaving here. Long term goal - getting settled back in BR turn into a shot term goal. It's where my heart lays! Didn't plan on this for another two months or more but FTDS , forget the dumb stuff -pg version Pm me if you may have any leads on a home for Butters

You are trying to do the best thing for Butters and that is all that matters. Life is unpredictable and the reasons are not important but the fact that you want to find him a wonderful home is. It was a very tough decision for me to find Little Louise, now called Loofy, a new home with Czarina but she had the resources that were needed. I miss that little girl so much but I had to make the right decision for her and you are doing the same for Butters. I hope since you have a little extra time we will be able to locate a wonderful new home for Butters. You are doing the right thing and many of us know just how hard it is to let go. Hang in there, I am sure help is on the way!

There is a member Norkthesquirrel that I will reach out to. She is not a rehabber but has raised one squirrel. I will reach out to her and any other member I can think of that could help.
Norkthesquirrel is in Baton Rouge.

I know of someone in Waldheim, LA. Not a TSB member but is a licensed rehabber. Waldheim is about 3 hours away from Alexandria. Shall I reach out to her or is the distance too far?
EDIT: Okay, got the machine, message says she's full and not taking animals but it also said if an animal is found to call the hotline for Louisiana that will help them find rehabbers: 888-308-3922 (tel:888-308-3922)

Heavenleigh, it was very courageous to tell the board about yourself and the difficulties you've been going through. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, but it sounds like you are headed for a change, doing what you want to do with your life, and that, too, is courageous.
There's one thing you might consider when posting such personal information (and this goes for everyone): future potential employers might see it. I'm unemployed at the moment, and have to think about all the things I've written on the internet. Companies sometimes do searches before hiring someone.

Now what are the chances that you will soon have 2 little mouths to feed?
Hopefully somewhere down the line these two littles can become cage mates.
Do you have any photos?

I just did a post of my very little one. Trying to figure out if the baby is a female or male. As for Butters I will try to get some pics of him soon. Last night while my husband was holding him I tried to take a pic of him but he was not having it, so I will give him a little more time since we are new to him!
Any updates on Butters?

Thank you SO much for helping out this member.
What a kind and loving gesture for you to take on Butters temporarily to help them out.
I do hope they repay your kindness with at least letting you know how he's doing.
You did a beautiful unselfish thing.
Thank you! :Love_Icon:Love_Icon:Love_Icon
